Linri and Jaime were standing before the entrance of the temple. Up close it looked really eerie, the whole temple was covered in vines and the stone under neat it looked like it could give in any minute. Now that he was before the entrance he had a murky dark feeling in his heart. Something inside him was warning him of the danger but he had no choice, he had to go in.
Linri took off his backpack and looked at Jaime.
"Are you ready? You can still turn back you know, you don't have to risk your life. I know that I would not come if it were you in this situation." Jaime rolled her eyes at him. They had already talked about this before coming here. At the time she had said she wanted to help because she felt indebted to the Harclaw family but the real reason was she that she was afraid. She was afraid to be left alone.
She did not have any family or friends here, the closest thing to a friend she had was Linri and Brie. She feared that if Linri did not come back there would be no one left in this world she can trust. She was even afraid that she would not be able to leave this country alive so her life depended on Arkady and Lyra as much as Linri's was. Well, at least she felt that way.
"Well, I am taking your silence as a no then. Get your backpack we need to do an inventory check. Knife?" Jaime took off her backpack just like him and opened it.
"Check!"
"Flashlight"
"Check!"
"Rope"
"Check"
"Emergency provisions"
"Check"
Linri kept naming stuff and Jaime kept answering check. They had already done this before leaving the camp behind but there was no harm in checking twice or even three times. Some of the things in here could save their lives.
"Okay seems like we are ready. Let's go!" Linri faked being enthusiastic in order to relax the mood. There was a high chance of death so the mood was obviously tense.
"Fine Dora the Explorer lead the way"
"At least call me Diego!" Linri retorted back at Jaime which made her chuckle.
Now that they were ready to go inside Linri took out a headlight from the backpack and put it on. He also took out a makeshift torch made from the leg bone of the beast and rags covered in cooking oil. He lit it up and went inside the temple.
"Why do you lit that torch? Didn't you made it for in case the flash light's batteries dies?" Linri looked at Jaime as if looking at an idiot.
"Did you seriously ask that question? Am I allowed to ignore you?"
"No, you are not"
"Don't you know that I have trouble creating large amounts of flames? That was why I created the Flame thrower gauntlet in the first place. To get rid of that weakness and have a stable source of flames."
"How the bloody hell am I supposed to know that? When I started Linri had already evolved his abilities remember?" Now Linri felt like an idiot for bringing that out. He coughed abruptly to hide his embarrassment.
"Well, you learnt it know then. I can't create large amount of flames, it was a downside of creating two abilities packed in one." Hearing that Jaime did not say anything as that really was something the admins would do in Autumnfall RP club.
Linri's flame ability was penalized for that reason, at night he had a complete ability but as night events were a rarity they had instead heavily penalized the day ability. At day Linri had 4 abilities.
First of 'Flame Manipulation'. This was a broken ability that had escaped the radar of the admins. With this ability, he could manipulate any and all kinds of fire, including the ones his enemies had created. If his opponent was a pyromancer he could just roast him with his own flames. The best part was he did not even need to spend single prana for using this ability. Too bad that he had to give it up after his evolution. If only he could find a way to keep it he was even willing to give up an arm, literally.
His second ability was 'Flame Bullet'. With this, he could create a bullet sized fire and shoot at his enemy with 1.5x above average speed. It dealt normal damage but he only had to spend 5 prana. It could even be counted as the improved version of his 'Icicle Strike' but the size of the flames was too small.
Third ability was 'Inferno Cage'. Flames would appear below the feet of his opponent and would trap him. If he did not move or touch the flames the cage would disappear on its own but if he tried to leave he would take 2x exceptional damage. To top it all the opponent would also receive 'Burn' status and any time he was hit he would take additional damage depending on his Willpower stat. The downside though this ability cost him 35 prana. Considering he had only 100 prana total, it was more than a third of his prana pool.
Lastly, there was the heavy hitter 'Hell hound'. Linri would summon a wolf-like creature made up off flames and it would not disappear until it hit the opponent. Yes, this was the legendary homing type attack. The wolf could not be destroyed as it was only flames given shape and it would hit the opponent for certain. Its damage was 2x exceptional to booth. Though speed wise it was slower with only 1.5x above average speed. It would be perfect if only costed a little less. This ability cost him the freaking amount of 50 prana, half of his prana pool. Normally he would be fine with it as it could use as a finisher but later on in one of his fights he learnt that this ability was not perfect. He found out that if the opponent had water-based powers they could just snuff out its flames and he would waste his prana for nothing. That was why he mostly used his flame manipulation in fights and whittled down his enemy's health while dodging with his speed and agility. That was an awful way to fight as one mistake and he would be defeated which happened 90% of the fights he had.
