I stood motionless, not knowing what to say. I mean, how can I do that when I did nothing but follow his instructions to clean my cuts and return to him? Why does my presence in the hallway make people uncomfortable and why do I choose to keep my attractiveness to myself at the expense of my freedom?

"I assume you weren't deaf; did the fight also impair your hearing?" 

I attempted to roll my eyes at his sly expression, but I had to force myself to stop. Though he is beautiful, I was taken aback by how his face changed from being icy and emotionless to warmer.
