"You've always been annoying," Aristele barked, his words low. He rattled against the cell walls, his foot slamming harshly into them. His dark golden eyes were clouded with frustration and whether it was directed towards himself or Allard could be debated. 

Perhaps, upon seeing his sister struck by his father, he had been angrier than before. Rowan had stopped him from lunging, telling him to keep the peace or it would cause a bigger issue. 

The Emperor's position. Aristele didn't understand why he was above the law. He was the most powerful man in the Empire. The people loved him, adored him, and yet he didn't love his own children. 

Lumielle had taken the hits as if she was used to it and on top of it, what Allard had done.
