Rufus Swallow pushed open the office door and walked in.

On the couch, Norris Moore was half-reclining in a red long dress, with sunglasses still on her face, half of it hidden under the shades. He walked over, took off her sunglasses, and looked at her slightly annoyed expression, her eyes closed and eyebrows tightly knit. He raised his hand and pressed gently on her furrowed brow, asking, "What's the matter?"

"Headache."

Rufus extended his hand to lift her up from the sofa, letting her sit on his lap. His hand kneaded at her temples as he studied her pale face, asking, "Why the headache?"

Norris opened her eyes, sighed at him and said, "Maybe I've taken too many sleeping pills. I took twice the usual amount and still can't sleep. I'm afraid that if I take any more, I'll be in the hospital. Otherwise, I wouldn't want to trouble you here."
