He didn't take his eyes off the computer screen; he simply picked up the phone.

He caught a glimpse of the incoming call displayed on the screen—it was an international number. Trenton's fingers paused on the keyboard, and his pupils contracted slightly.

After a moment, he stood up from his office chair, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, looked outside, and pressed the answer key.

"Treton."

A soft, faint, yet gentle voice came from the phone.

Trenton's eyes stared outside the window, and something slowly revived from the depths of his memories with that call.

That voice had once saved him from the abyss.

"Mm," he said gently, "I am here."

"Treton," she whispered, "I miss you. When will you have time... to come and see me?"
