Bab 37: Chapter 37

Haruka stared at the screen of his phone, his brow furrowing as he scrolled through the news articles and social media posts. The Kamen Rider's name had spread like wildfire throughout Fawcett City, and the videos of him saving the bus were everywhere.

He couldn't help but feel a mix of pride and unease. On one hand, he was glad that his actions had made a difference and that the people were safe. But the sudden attention made him uneasy, as he preferred to operate in the shadows.

Haruka sighed, running a hand through his hair. He knew that as the Kamen Rider, his identity and actions would eventually come to light, but he had hoped for a bit more time before the spotlight found him.

Glancing around the hotel room, Haruka contemplated his next move. Should he continue his patrol and risk further encounters? Or should he lay low and focus on his original mission? The decision weighed heavily on his mind, and he couldn't help but feel the burden of his responsibilities as the Kamen Rider.

Haruka decided to patrol the city at night in the Trapping Spider armor. Donning the sleek, metallic suit, he stepped out into the streets of Fawcett City, his enhanced senses heightened and alert.

With a silent command, Haruka deployed his Candroids - the Takacandroid, Battacandroid, and Takocandroids - to scout the city for any signs of criminal activity. The small, mechanical creatures swiftly dispersed, their advanced cameras and sensors scanning the alleyways and rooftops for trouble.

Haruka moved with a fluid grace, his footsteps light and his gaze ever-watchful. As he patrolled the dimly lit streets

Suddenly, the Battacandroid's signal flashed on Haruka's display, alerting him to a potential disturbance. Without hesitation, he leapt into action, sprinting towards the source of the disturbance, ready to confront whatever challenges lay ahead.

Haruka's eyes narrowed as he spotted the group of thugs surrounding a lone salaryman on the dimly lit street. He could hear their taunting voices from his vantage point.

Thug 1: "Look at this guy, thinks he can walk through our turf without paying the toll."

Thug 2: "Yeah, time to teach him a lesson."

The salaryman held up his hands, trembling. "Please, I don't want any trouble. I'm just trying to get home."

Thug 3: "Shut up, old man!" He shoved the salaryman, who stumbled backwards.

Haruka clenched his fists, the Trapping Spider armor humming with power. He couldn't just stand by and watch this unfold. Leaping down from his perch, he landed between the thugs and the salaryman, his presence commanding their attention.

Thug 1: "What the—? Who the hell are you?"

Haruka's voice was low and stern through the helmet's speakers. "Just somebody who won't stand by seeing thugs preying on an unarmed man."

The thugs exchanged nervous glances, but their bravado quickly returned.

Thug 2: "You think you can just waltz in and tell us what to do? This is our territory!"

Thug 3 pulled a knife, lunging towards Haruka. In a fluid motion, Haruka webbed the thug's hand, disarming him. The other thugs hesitated, unsure of how to proceed.

Haruka extended his hand towards the salaryman. "Are you alright, sir?"

The salaryman, eyes wide with relief, shakily accepted Haruka's offer of assistance. "Y-yes, thank you."

Haruka turned his attention to one of the remaining thugs, his gloved hand extending a thick, sticky web. With a flick of his wrist, the web shot out, enveloping the thug's chest. Haruka yanked the line, pulling the thug up and leaving him dangling helplessly from the rooftop above.

The other two thugs, seeing their comrade suspended in the air, panicked and tried to flee. But Haruka was faster, trapping them in the same manner, their cries of alarm echoing through the empty street as they too were hoisted up and left hanging.

Haruka watched as the salaryman looked up at him, eyes wide with awe and gratitude.

"Th-thank you, Kamen Rider," the salaryman stammered. "But who are you?"

Haruka paused, considering how much to reveal. "I'm just someone who won't stand by and let innocent people be harmed," he replied, his voice modulated by the Trapping Spider armor.

The salaryman nodded slowly, his expression one of wonder. "Well, whoever you are, you have my deepest thanks. I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't intervened."

Haruka placed a reassuring hand on the salaryman's shoulder. "Stay safe, and get home quickly," he said. With that, he turned and leapt up to the rooftops, disappearing into the night.

Haruka quickly pulled out his phone and dialed the police. "There's a group of thugs hanging from webs on the rooftops in the industrial district. You need to get someone over here right away." He gave a brief description of the situation, ensuring the authorities would arrive promptly to apprehend the criminals.

With the call made, Haruka turned his attention back to the city streets. The Trapping Spider armor's sleek, metallic frame moved with a feline grace as he traversed the rooftops, his enhanced senses scanning the area for any other signs of trouble. His gaze was ever-vigilant, searching the shadows for any potential threats.

As Haruka patrolled the dimly lit alleys and deserted sidewalks, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Fawcett City seemed remarkably peaceful, almost too quiet for his liking. He had been tasked with taking down three supervillains, and so far, he had encountered nothing more than a group of petty thugs.

Haruka frowned beneath his helmet, his mind racing with possibilities. Where were the grand, larger-than-life villains he had expected to find in this city? Had he perhaps underestimated Fawcett City's ability to maintain order and safety?

Haruka's eyes narrowed as the Battacandroid's signal flashed on his display, alerting him to a disturbance nearby. Without a moment's hesitation, he sprinted towards the source, his Trapping Spider armor humming with power.

As he approached the intersection, Haruka spotted a group of people gathered around a commotion. Quickly assessing the situation through his Candroids' relayed information, he saw that a reckless driver had lost control of their vehicle, careening dangerously through the intersection and putting bystanders at risk.

Haruka didn't waste a second. With his enhanced strength, he leapt into the fray, grabbing hold of the out-of-control car. Gritting his teeth, he slowed the vehicle's momentum, guiding it to a safe stop.

The onlookers erupted in applause, their cries of "Kamen Rider!" echoing through the night. Haruka, unsure of how to respond to the sudden attention, simply nodded and turned his attention to ensuring the driver and any injured parties were attended to.

"Is everyone alright?" he asked, his modulated voice calm and authoritative through the Trapping Spider's helmet.

The driver, shaken but unharmed, looked up at Haruka with wide eyes. "Y-yes, thanks to you. I don't know what happened, I just lost control..."

Haruka placed a reassuring hand on the driver's shoulder. "The important thing is that no one was hurt. Be more careful next time."

The bystanders gathered around, their expressions a mix of awe and gratitude. One woman stepped forward, her voice trembling with emotion. "Thank you, Kamen Rider. You saved us all!"

Haruka nodded, his gaze sweeping over the crowd. "Just doing what's right," he said, before turning and leaping back onto the rooftops, disappearing into the night.

With the crisis averted, Haruka scanned the area once more, hoping to catch a glimpse of a supervillain or any other threat that would allow him to fulfill his mission. But the streets remained eerily quiet, save for the occasional siren in the distance.

Letting out a frustrated sigh, Haruka realized that his search for a worthy adversary in Fawcett City might prove more challenging than he had anticipated. Still, he was determined to uncover the city's secrets and find the supervillain he had been tasked to defeat.

"This is proving to be more difficult than I expected," Haruka muttered to himself, his brow furrowed beneath the Trapping Spider helmet. "Where are all the villains in this city?"

He paused, considering his options. Should he continue his patrol or try a more direct approach? Haruka knew he needed to be strategic, but the lack of action was beginning to test his patience.

Haruka decided to calm down. He patrolled for a few more hours before returning to the hotel to rest for the night.

Stepping into the hotel room, Haruka removed the Trapping Spider armor, letting out a weary sigh. He sat down on the edge of the bed, running a hand through his messy hair.

"This is going to be tougher than I thought," he muttered, his brow furrowed in contemplation. "Fawcett City seems too quiet, almost too peaceful."

Haruka glanced at the clock, noting the late hour. He knew he needed to get some rest if he was going to continue his search tomorrow. Kicking off his shoes, he lay back on the bed, his gaze fixed on the ceiling.

"I'll give it one more week," he said aloud, his voice barely above a whisper. "If I can't find any supervillains by then, I'll have to move on to the next city."

With that, Haruka closed his eyes, allowing the exhaustion of the night's events to wash over him as he drifted off to sleep.
