Xiang Ling's senses heightened instantly as she summoned her powers, prepared to confront whoever was trying to breach the powerful wards around her palace. She tried to sense who or what it was, but she was unable to sense anything other than the obvious fact that something or someone was trying to enter her place.

A sizzling sound nearby caught her attention, and she readied her sword to strike when a familiar voice stopped her - "Don't attack, it's me, Lingling."

Her sword halted just a centimeter from Zhe Yuan's smooth cheek. Realizing who he was, she immediately withdrew her weapon, letting it vanish into her space. "Ah Yuan?" she gasped, shocked by his sudden appearance in her bedchamber.

Without a word, Zhe Yuan closed the distance between them, pulling her into his strong embrace before cupped her chin and tilting her face to capture her lips with his own. His arms encircled her waist, and his lips met hers in a sweet, passionate kiss.
