Still, the Core is something very resistant, so just one or two attacks will be far from enough to crack it open.

That is also the reason why you need a lot of spirit stones during this process. Every attack uses a lot of energy, which had to be replaced right after. Otherwise, the Core would recover from the previous attack, and the process would have to start again.
