Bab 25: Chapter 25: Spider vs Spider

I know I owe you a good explanation as to why I was absent and didn't update this story.

It really wasn't a big deal, I just went to college, I was busy all this time studying, doing homework, etc.

The chapter was done little by little but I was late because of that.

Sorry about that.

And eat

I've been eating hard while immersed in my thoughts, my mental connection with Shiro-chan currently disabled.

Yes, I can deactivate my telepathic communication with Shiro-chan but that's not the point yet.

We both have a lot on our minds.

To vent our anger and frustrations, Shiro-chan and I have been hunting monsters like crazy in the Lower Layer.

Weak monsters, strong monsters, we hunt them all equally.

In the process, we met someone unexpectedly.

Earth Dragon Kagna-chan.

The second land dragon I met in the Lower Layer.

Huh? Do you want to know if we fight him?

We tried, or at least I tried, but after Shiro-chan saw his stats, he forcibly teleported us to our house.

I mean, it's not like it's that strong, at least for the two of us together, I think.

But Shiro-chan seems to think differently from me, although I still think we should.

Huh? Do you think I would hunt it by myself?

Nai wa! With his skills and stats, he has the perfect defense.

It is like a walking castle.

Sure, it's not like I was really balanced, but if we were talking in video game form, then he put all his points on defense, like maple-chan.

"Just look at his skills! We couldn't against him!"

'Eh, Shiro-chan, were you listening to me?'

"I activated the link between us to talk about our next move but I can't let you mislead readers with your words."

'Eh, but we could have killed him'

"No, we couldn't, for starters he has Imperial Scales, the ability superior to Dragon Scales that you have, which grants high defense and magic canceling power."

"Then top Stronghold and Steel Body to the combo for even greater defense, both of which are constantly active skills that simply increase your defense."

"Thanks to them, his high dense power soared even higher."

"And THEN, there's that huge pile of resistance skills."

"I don't think we could make a dent in that thing, especially with that pesky skill called Status Condition Super-Resistance."

"It is an improved version of the Status Condition Resistance skill that the fire dragon had."

"Our main weapons are status alteration attacks, so this is the worst situation that could happen to us, and he's also at level 8, so virtually no status alteration would work against him."

"Poison, paralysis, curse, the whole pack, oh yeah, forgot to mention that as curses fall into the category of altered states, which means our evil eyes wouldn't work either."

"Even putting that aside, the fact that the poison doesn't work really sucks."

"I've always trusted poison, and I'm sure you have too, since the day I was born."

"Not being able to use it is kind of a shock, I've even taken down monsters with Poison Resistance before, but now, for the first time, my opponent's defense is too devilishly high."

'It's not like we won't be able to hurt him with poison, but thanks to him having Hp Rapid Recovery, that damage will be healed, that takes away status alterations as effective attacks against him.'

"I'm glad you understand."

'What about our physical attacks?'

"What about them?"

'You know what I mean'

"Well, that's even less likely, our meager attack power could never break through that fortress-like defense."

'But we have Rot Attack.'

"Rot Attack might cause some damage, I suppose, but any wound our scythes might cause would be like a paper cut on Kagna's giant body."

"And Rot Attack is like a suicide bomb, even with your high resistance, so I can only use it once with my left and right scythe and you can probably use it 2 times."

"Taking down that brutally defensive beast with 6 attacks? Seh, not going to happen, percentage-wise, that would do more damage to us than to him, probably."

"Even if we managed to get through his defense that way and do some damage to him, he'd still heal fast enough thanks to Hp Rapid Recovery."

'Hey, I have it too and at a higher level'.

"Yes, and that's why I say it, I know how fast you heal, so putting it together with that high defense he has, it seems unfair to me."

'But we have magic, thanks to me you have magic you wouldn't have before so easily and it has no resistance for our best type of magic, Darkness.'

"But if we try to reduce it to that, his recovery and high defense could help him survive."

"In such a case, he could acquire the stamina ability mid-battle and his recovery could even begin to overcome the damage again."

'Ugh, if that happened, it would be the end of us.'

'But still, our magic stats are pretty sky-high, so I think we could take it all the way.'

"The problem is that it could end up destroying either of the 2 of us before we finish the job."

"Looking at his skills, I guess Kagna's strategy is to use the brute force of his huge body."

"It has the breath attack of the Earth Dragon skill and some low-level Earth Magic, but other than that, it doesn't seem to have any major attack-based skills."

'You could even say that those are their only ranged attack options, so by combining our speed and our ranged attacks we could...'

"But wait! Don't be hasty!"

'Yuck, now what?'

"Because he's such a giant, his body itself is basically a big weapon."

"I mean, imagine it."

"A huge dragon charging at little tiny me, wanting to crush me under its paws, or you."

'Yuck.'

'But their speed is slower than ours.'

"Sure, its speed is 1225, much higher than most of the monsters around here."

"It just seems low because all of its other characteristics are so high."

"Of course, I pride myself on my speed, so he couldn't catch up with me-"

'Nor me!'

"-But still, this is all assuming he's just an enemy."

"So, like, Kagna was, oh, I don't know, with another dragon."

'Oh yes, I forgot about him'

"Seriously, what the hell?"

'Unreal'

"Who does that?"

'Nobody, it's crazy'

"Of course, we immediately teleported home using teleportation."

"We had no choice, obviously."

"I mean, how were we supposed to beat that?"

"As if Kagna the walking fortress wasn't enough, Gehre's stats and Dimensional Maneuvering skill solidify him as a speed type."

'It's like they have a sign that says, DO YOU WANT TO DIE?'

"Nai waaaa"

Taking a break from Shiro-chan's monologue, what she said makes a lot of sense.

The earth dragon Gehre-chan was a rather elegant-looking creature, similar to Araba-chan.

He was huge, yes, but unlike Kagna-chan's stocky build, he had a sharp, quick-looking form.

In addition, its speed statistic exceeded 4000

As a bonus, his high perception and evasion skills mean he would probably be really hard to hit.

Although in reality, even if his constitution is based more on speed, Gehre-chan also has good defense stats.

They are not as high as Kagna-chan's, but it has high support skill stats and many resistances, with Hp Recovery Speed to top it off.

So even if one of the 2 of us managed to hit her, it probably wouldn't hurt much.

Wow, I should thank Shiro-chan later.

I'm going to pay attention to Shiro-chan again.

"What kind of sick joke is this?"

"And that physical attack power is no mean feat either, especially with those blades on its front legs."

"I have a feeling he'd cut us in two if he hit us with one of those."

"Zigzagging at high speed and moving those blades...Shesh."

"And of course, it has the standard breath attack-built in."

'Even so, his defense is not as high as Kagna-chan's, so I think our attacks would link up if we managed to hit him.'

'If we are smart, we can create a strategy to be able to beat him in a fight.'

"If I were alone, that is."

"With both of them, Kagna could block all my attacks while Gehre goes on the offensive."

"A couple that covers each other's weaknesses, like an amazing spear and shield combination."

'Ugh, those two together are impossible to win.'

"They'd be tough enough in a 2-on-1, but both at once with such an ideal combination? Forget it."

'Anyway, we marked them both, so we can wait for them to separate before making any moves.'

Marking is one of the effects of Wisdom-sama. It allows me to mark targets on my map.

As long as they are marked, I can find their whereabouts no matter where they go.

Although if it's somewhere I don't know, the information is vague, like "somewhere around here".

Our Lower Layer maps are not yet complete, but the Kagna-chan and Gehre-chan markers are still stuck on like glue.

"They don't look like they're going to break up anytime soon."

'Well, we'll just have to wait then.'

Also, when I mark something, I can check its status whenever I want.

So, if I go around watching that, I can teleport with Shiro-chan and attack them if I catch them in a weak moment.

Not that I imagine a pair of earth dragons having "weak moments" very often.

By the way, it is impossible to prepare a spell beforehand, teleport and then cast it immediately on the target in front of you.

Even if you build the spell beforehand, it falls apart as soon as you teleport.

It is due to the very nature of teleportation, not the user's ability to construct spells, so there is nothing you can do about it.

Anyway, until those guys split up, I'll go hunting somewhere else.

There should still be at least one other earth dragon in the Lower Layer, so maybe I can take care of that first one.

While we're at it, we can take revenge on Araba-chan, for example.

Especially considering that Araba-chan is the reason why Shiro-chan is so afraid of earth dragons to begin with, so we could eliminate his trauma by defeating him.

In a two-on-one match, it is very likely that we can beat Kagna-chan or Gehre-chan.

In which case, since Araba-chan is a loner, it should be easier to beat him, although my memories tell me that's not true, but how reliable are they to begin with.

Oh yes, before I go on, I have to tell you about two important issues, my memories and the strange hidden skill I had that D-chan gave me, Twin Link.

I'll start with my memories, I'm not entirely sure if it was because of D or because of that "Claude" guy but all my memories were stored is Taboo, and when I say all, I mean ALL.

Literally from the first day I was born to the day I died, my first word, my first day at school, my first anime, everything.

Including the memories I have of this world, which unfortunately are not many.

Why the hell didn't I read the manga or the novel? Why did I delay reading them? Why was I such an idiot?!

For those who are wondering, yes, I found out about the anime after it ended and I watched it until Araba's confrontation and death, since it bored me after that because it focused more on the humans instead of the spider.

Then I found out that there was a manga that focused only on the spider parts and a finished novel of the spider story.

I intended to watch/read them but I got lazy and never saw them.

I know, it sounds convenient but in my previous life I was quite lazy and prone to leave other things pending and focus more on the things ahead of me.

Anyway, some will say "if you know how strong Araba-chan is, why do you think it would be easy to face him?" and the answer is... my own laziness plays against me, again.

You see, I know how strong he is and that he can buy skills to adjust his chances in battle but truth be told, I never really paid attention to details.

I was one of those people who mostly spent watching the chapters advancing them every so often (you know, advancing the YouTube videos 5 seconds) so I didn't pay much attention to the details and more than in the anime you had to pay attention to the details to know how strong the enemy really was, which made me lazy so I don't really remember how strong Araba-chan was.

But if I compare it to Kagna-chan and Gehre-chan it can't be that strong, right?

...right?

[Famous last words]

Shut up Karada-chan.

(I will prepare long-range teleportation)

{Do that Akira-chan, I'll prepare whatever escape spell we have available}

(Understood Miho-chan)

Ugh, even my parallel minds fuck with me, help my parallel minds are bullying me.

Anyway, my memories aside, there is one other thing I have to say about all this.

D did something with my personality or something else when I "merge" with Shiro-chan, which is probably a side effect of the Twin Link Skill, why do I say that?

2 things, my personality and the fact that I literally did the same thing Shiro-chan did, in the anime, at least.

I used to be a very lazy person who didn't care about many things, I didn't even care about my own life.

But now, I'm worried about my own survival, I was childish, I have a strange obsession with being stronger and a bloodlust for battles.

And that brings me to the other thing I wanted to talk about, the strange Twin Link skill.

It has a vague description that literally said: activate the cooperative mode.

When I did a double Appraisal in the cooperative mode, the effects said that we shared experience, both the normal experience and the skills we gained, with the exception of the skills we gained with skill points.

Just by knowing that, it became clearer to me why it was more difficult to level up before, even though it was easier before.

But I also realized it was more than that.

We communicated thanks to my old skill Telepathy, which thanks to our constant dialogues was raised to level 10 and evolved to Fartalk, which is basically the same as Telepathy only that it allows us to communicate wherever we are, before with Telepathy wecould only communicate at close range but thanks to Fartalk now we could communicate wherever we are.

Anyway, leaving that aside, I realized that, if I concentrate, I can realize what exactly Shiro-chan is feeling, annoyance, anger, hunger, amusement, etc.

And that made me think, if I can tell what Shiro-chan feels even if we haven't been together long and I feel a certain special connection with Shiro-chan.

And that just tells me that most likely Shiro-chan and I share emotions, what she feels I feel, and what I feel she feels.

That could be him because I am like her, as she is the 'original' and 'dominant' as far as bonding is concerned, as she is originally from our old world and I am just an interloper.

But besides that, I unconsciously followed the path that Shiro-chan followed, not because I had "absorbed" Shiro-chan but because of this skill.

Or at least that's what I think, it's more of a theory.

You know those things they say about twins doing everything together and basically being the same? Although that's more of an urban myth since twins aren't 100% the same but whatever.

What I was getting at is that, being D and skill being called Twin, most likely D has done something with me to be very much like Shiro-chan, I mean, I have all my memories but emotions anchored to them don't.

I got mad at D for sealing my precious memories because I remembered them, forgive the redundancy, very fondly, but when I remembered them and thought about them more determinedly...

I felt nothing.

Nothing at all.

I have the memories but not the recurring emotions to them, it's like watching a movie but not being able to identify with the protagonist.

I didn't know how to feel... happy? Sad? Angry? I don't know, I was never good with human emotions, maybe that's the reason why I reincarnated for the third time as a spider.

Anyway, let's leave aside all these existential dramas and stuff, those things don't matter now, the only thing that matters is the now, what it reminds me of.

'Hey Shiro-chan, let's go see Araba-chan.'

"Hmm, I was thinking the same thing, you want revenge on Araba too, kuroko?"

'Something like that, I've felt like killing him since the first time I saw him.'

"Hmmm, that's not a bad idea. Although anyway, it would be dangerous to jump into battle without any preparation, so I'd like to see your stats first."

'you're right, besides, if I remember correctly Araba-chan had a higher level than Kagna-chan.'

"We're going to gather some data and come up with a strategy,"

Which brings us to the present, back to the Lower Layer.

We are currently located near the memorable point where I fell here from the Upper Layer.

Well, me and Shiro-chan.

A curious thing, which I did not mention, is that we both live practically the same life.

The only differences are that it was me who found the egg, Shiro-chan found none, and that she faced a large bandana of monkeys with some wolves.

Now I know where those monkeys came from...

Anyway, we could have teleported directly to the bottom of the well, but it would have been silly if we had met Araba-chan there, so we went to a place a little farther away.

As it turns out, it was a good decision.

'This guy looks like serious trouble.'

"Very much so."

We are currently in one of the extra-wide corridors of the Lower Layer, but the thing's huge, long body makes it look small and cramped. It's a gigantic snake monster, easily a dozen feet long.

It glides incredibly smoothly, considering how big it is, without a single sound thanks to its Silence skill.

Wonderful.

"This thing is worse than Kagna or Gehre, we would definitely die if we tried to fight that thing. No thanks."

I'd like to refute that, but honestly, our chances of winning, the two of us together, are 50-60%.

Based on its silhouette, it is most likely an evolved form of the Upper Layer snake.

Snakes were quite strong for the Upper Layer, so it is not surprising that their evolved form was more terrifying.

We watch from just the right distance to use Appraisal as the snake slithers away.

He heads for the well we were about to go to.

It would be pretty bad news if we followed her and ended up engaging in combat, not without the necessary planning, so we'll call it a day on Araba-chan's reconnaissance mission for now.

I convey my words to Shiro-chan and she agrees.

"I guess there are still monsters beyond our imagination here in the Lower Layer. It was good to remember that, probably."

'We will have to wait a while until the snake is gone to activate the teleportation and go home, it was a good idea for the 2 of us to come on this reconnaissance mission.'

"Yes, even with Height of Occultism, it takes a little while to activate long distance teleportation."

'The bad thing is that thing has tons of perception skills, so we'll have to wait until it's gone far enough away that it won't detect us using magic.'

BOOM!

'That was...'

"Sounds... of battle?

Looking slowly in the direction the giant snake went, I can see it fighting something far away.

This is a good time to use Telescopic Sight.

The image of the snake's desperate battle expands to reach my vision.

Then I hold my breath.

It is a dragon

Endlessly moving, manipulating the earth... it's an earth dragon.

The snake's body undulates at an unexpected speed for its large size.

He uses his giant weight and the force of gravity to hit his opponent with terrifying force.

But the dragon dodges it easily, gliding along the ground and through the air alike.

Earthen spears emerged from the ground, wounding the snake.

Their high defense prevented them from penetrating their skin, but they are still hurting them.

The snake tries to dodge the spears, but they shoot out of the ground wherever it touches. With its giant body, it is impossible to dodge them all.

The only way to avoid the attacks of this earth-controlling dragon would be to move through the air.

But just as I'm thinking that, rocks fall from the ceiling.

This is a maze, after all. We are surrounded by dirt on all sides, and for this dragon, everything serves as a potential weapon.

Then the earth dragon uses itself as a weapon, too, charging at the snake.

Those fangs, those claws, and that tail as sharp as a sword.

The snake is overwhelmed, completely at the mercy of the dragon.

Watching this scene unfold, to me, is so beautiful and majestic.

That dragon is even stronger than I imagined.

There have been many times when I thought I probably couldn't win.

Oka-sama, D, Güli-Güli.

However, although I was frightened by his strength, I never really felt a desire to possess his power.

But now, really being able to have the strength of that dragon.

I want to surpass it, even.

I'm not entirely sure where this imposition comes from, but for some reason, I feel like I need to fight it.

I'm still not enough, neither is Shiro-chan.

But it is not something that is beyond our reach.

So, we will continue to level up and I will be up to the challenge.

The giant snake receives a breath attack and falls to the ground.

I know that breath very well, as does Shiro-chan.

Because, of course, I have experienced it for myself.

Remembering, with some embarrassment, the fear I felt at that moment, my body trembles again.

But it's not fear this time, this time it's excitement.

I look at Shiro-chan and see that she is shaking too, I feel her emotions, her fear but also the excitement of the battle, she thinks and feels the same as me.

I return my gaze to the battle already finished.

The dragon tramples the snake's corpse.

I engrave that powerful image in my brain before teleporting next to Shiro-chan.

I want to burn it into my brain until the day I finally challenged it.

The creature I have to overcome.

The source of Shiro-chan's trauma.

The earth dragon, Araba-chan.

Shock by dragon!

It may sound ridiculous, but I'm totally in a state of post-dragon shock.

And from what I see, Shiro-chan is too.

Once we returned home, I couldn't hold my battle excitement and went to hunt some monsters, while Shiro-chan got some kind of terror after what we witnessed and it took him half a day to recover.

I would have helped her but I've never been good at helping people with their traumas or with anything in general, so I left her alone while I hunted.

That way at least there is food for when she recovers from his terror.

I understand a little bit why it gave you that dread or fear or whatever it was that it gave you.

Seeing two earth dragons together when they're already strong on their own... yeah, that had some impact, but it was still okay.

But the Araba-chan earth dragon is another story.

Currently, I don't see any way to really fight him, other than to be a really open space and get more skills.

That giant snake, which I already thought was too strong for us, was completely crushed with virtually no effort when it fought Araba-chan.

What's so scary? Well, all of it.

I would rather say that I am the odd one out since I was not afraid of him, I simply fed my desire to defeat him.

But I still have to admit that everything about him is scary, he's an incredibly intelligent monster.

Effortless movements that easily dodged all the snake's attacks.

Sure, those moves were pretty quick, but more than that. what makes it really dangerous was how precise they were.

Araba-chan adapted her movements to be able to move and dodge each attack at a moment's notice, seamlessly incorporating her skills along the way.

Unlike the way I was sweeping everything away with the sheer power of my skills, this was like watching a martial arts master who has been perfecting his moves for many years.

Those magnificent moves had nothing to do with skills or statistics. It was pure art.

On the flip side, there was the dirty method of attack that worked in tandem with those moves

Attacking while dodging.

Not only that, but in addition to the flawless "fly like a butterfly, sting like a bee" strategy, there was also the nightmarish assault of magic chasing your opponent at the same time.

Isn't it a bit unfair to use Earth Magic inside a labyrinth?

A labyrinth has earthen walls and ceilings, not to mention the floor, you know?

If all that stuff turns into a weapon and comes at you at the same time, there's no way you can dodge it.

Since I have Foresight, I might be able to survive, but I'm not sure if it would last long.

So, attacks come at you from all sides and leave you no room to escape, along with perfect evasion based on pure technique.

Most importantly, there is the judgment of Araba itself, which controls all this power.

Not to mention, there's no way to know, since the snake never hit a single attack, but because it's an earth dragon, I'm sure its defensive power will be ridiculously high.

There is not a trace of a single weakness.

How are we supposed to beat that?

It should be easier now that there are two of us, but I can't think of any good strategy to beat him at the moment.

Hmm.

We can't win fairly against Araba-chan, so we will have to win unfairly.

We continued to level up for several days in the Lower Layer as we tried to devise strategies to defeat Araba-chan.

At the moment, I'm at home, lurking together with Shiro-chan.

"You're feeling it too, aren't you?"

'Yes, my perception feels them too.'

A group of monsters we picked up with Detection is heading straight this way.

Considering that most Upper Layer monsters run away as soon as they see us, it is very unusual that some of them are approaching us.

They are clearly coming on purpose; they are coming for us.

But I guess I know why.

And I also know exactly what they are.

The group appears.

Leading the way are two incredibly huge monsters.

'Are they that strong!'

"Why do these SPIDERS have higher stats than an earth dragon!"

'I mean, it's kind of expected this considering he was running away from us, but still.'

It is a bit funny that the two arch's have similar stats and skills, but one has them lower than the other by a minimal difference of two levels and the skills with lower levels but besides that they are very similar.

These things look like a pale, smaller version of Oka-sama. They're probably just a step away from becoming another one like her, so of course they're not going to be weak.

It's okay.

The group of monsters that come to attack us are spiders, just like us.

Technically, since our species has changed through evolution, we are not exactly the same family. But we were originally a Taratect as well, so I guess we are sort of close relatives, like cousins.

Behind the arch Taratect, there are five Great Teratects, which are slightly smaller in size than their leader.

This is probably the strongest of the Majors.

Of course, after looking at the arch's stats and skills, this doesn't seem to be a problem in comparison, but it's still pretty strong.

Its stats are lower than those of the Middle Layer fire dragon, but it has many skills.

If they were to fight one on one, the fire dragon would probably have the advantage due to the spiders' weakness to fire, but overall, I'd say their power is about on the same level.

And the other 4 are similar in stats, so basically, we have seven dragon-class monsters on our hands.

On top of that, they have a ton of small Taractecs and some adult Teratects swarming around them.

Ah. And even some of the rare poison variety.

"Oooh, there are some minor Teratects too! Now, that brings back some memories."

'Yes, me too.'

They are so weak.

I feel that just a light touch would be enough to kill them.

'Looking from a distance, I think about how far we've come from being one of those.'

Oh, well.

'Sorry, I got sidetracked for a second there, as I really wasn't expecting this big crowd.'

"Don't worry, I got sidetracked too, but we knew this would happen anyway."

'Yes, although part of me was hoping it wouldn't come to this'.

You may ask, why did we expect this?

Well, we are system rebels, defying Oka-sama's orders.

It all started when we werefighting the fire dragon(s) and I caught myself thinking it was "irritating".

So, when all my parallel minds came together to search for the source of that weirdness, that's when I found it.

Basically, I was being controlled, so was Shiro-chan from what she told me.

To be more accurate, it was more like the preliminary stages to control, or as if I was unconsciously being fed thoughts that were not mine.

Apparently, since Oka-sama was... well Oka-sama, she has a skill that allows him to control her offspring.

Kin Control, allows the user to connect to their child's souls, allowing the user to monitor, track and receive reports on their children.

Thanks to this skill, I began to feel its effects, although only a little.

She apparently doesn't control all of her children, only those who reach a certain level of strength. And I guess we both crossed that line at some point.

I think the reason it can't control us completely is because we are no longer Taratect, or maybe it's because of our stats, or some skill of ours.

It could really be anything, I'm not sure.

Anyway, basically, she tried to manipulate us.

So, we launched a counterattack.

As Oka-sama tried to control us, that meant that there was some kind of mental pathway out there, connecting us very slowly.

So, we used that way to do a reverse-engineered hack.

We tested it with our parallel minds, and as you might guess, it worked.

Shiro-chan and I decided to send 2 parallel minds each, Shiro-chan sent Body-in-charge and Magic-in-charge 1 and I decided to send two new personalities that I decided to call Gisei and Ruki, two new personalities that appeared and really had nothing to do in my mind, so they volunteered to invade Oka-sama's mind.

So now apart from me, Shiro-chan, and our assistants, 4 of our parallel minds are working hard to counterattack Oka-sama, with very favorable reviews.

Oka-sama has no defenses against a parasitic spirit or rather a soul virus.

We are basically eating Oka-sama's soul.

Obviously, she's not going to just sit back and accept it.

Which means that while our parallel minds continue their intense journey in Oka-sama's mind, she has sent something like a SWAT team to take us down in the physical world.

We seem to be winning some sort of spiritual battle against it, but if it were to show up in person, we would definitely lose.

That is why we built our house in a space between the Middle Layer and the Upper Layer where Oka-sama cannot enter.

She is strong enough to crush a fire dragon without thinking, but because she is so huge, she cannot enter such a small area.

The Arch Taratect that is in front of us at the moment is also damn big, but apparently, it manages to get through this passage somehow.

Now, we have a huge army of spiders here, with four dragon-class bigwigs leading the way.

From the outside, you're probably assuming that we are up to our necks in water.

But think about it, if we knew they were coming, do you really think we wouldn't do something in response?

These guys are spiders.

And we are spiders too.

These days, I'm out hunting and exploring the labyrinth, but deep down, I'm still the species that likes to set up nets and wait for prey to get caught in them, you know?

So of course, we weren't going to just sit here without having any traps ready!

The Arch Taratect moves slowly towards us.

The Arch's claws are embedded in the middle of the place where we were standing.

Woah!

So fast?!

Well, that's to be expected considering that this is the monster with the highest speed statistic of them all, according to Appraisal.

In addition, his Hit is at maximum, and the Probability Super-Correction is at level 2.

Without my four-way combo of Thought Acceleration, Prediction, Evasion and Probability Correction, those claws probably would have gone right through me.

But no matter how fast they may be, they are still slower than the two of us.

"Damn, that was scary."

I looked at Shiro-chan, who had also escaped, looking back to where we were before.

Neither of us were worried, even the arch with the higher speed stat increased by Magic Warfare and Mental Warfare, we were still faster.

Besides, our Magic and Mental Warfare skill levels are higher anyway.

In fact, both Shiro-chan and my Magic Warfare evolved and became Magic Divinity.

Magic Divinity is a much more powerful version of Magic Warfare, of course.

Besides having an obvious more powerful effect than its weaker version, this one even increases the speed at which magic stats rise.

Thanks to that, our already ridiculously high magic-related statistics are now truly unfathomable.

By activating Magic Divinity and Dragon Power at the same time, my magic attack power and stamina easily reached over ten thousand.

Heh-heh-heh.

The physical attack of the arch is a threat, of course, but not if it can't even touch us.

The Taratect arch makes a little thread.

Oh, I better not touch those things.

I know all about it.

The spider thread is bad news.

If it catches you, it's all over.

Well, even if I get caught, Shiro-chan could free me or I could just teleport out if I had to, but, still, it's better not to risk it.

A network of threads flies towards us.

As I dodge them, I see the Major Taratect begin to move out of the corner of my eye.

Should I take this more seriously?

I mean, with Shiro-chan by my side and the traps we set up to ensure our victory, it's a little hard to feel the tension.

Also, I have become strong enough at this point that I no longer have to worry about being knocked out if a single attack hits me.

My natural physical stats are already high, and I have Magic Divinity, Mental Warfare, Dragon Power and Scales, all raising them even higher, so...

If I really wanted to, I could go even higher with Anger, but it seems a little too much, you know?

I mean, Anger increases my physical stats by a large amount.

How big, you ask? Well, at level 1, I already increase them as much as Mental Warfare level 9.

And it does not even consume Mp or Sp.

However, when I use it, it automatically activates the status alteration: Madness.

Thanks to Heresy Nullification, Madness doesn't totally take over me or anything, but I still don't want to use it again unless it's an emergency case.

I'm pretty strong without it, and when it comes down to it, I'm the magical ninja type anyway.

Why would I put aside my magic to get into a stupid physical fight?

Anyway, taking Perseverance into account, my actual Hp exceeds 10,000.

None of the enemies in front of me could kill me with a single blow, at least I don't think so.

As, for example, this arch definitely cannot.

Its strongest attack is Deadly Poison Attack at level 10.

And use Utility Thread to make sure your target can't escape.

It's a wicked combo, if you ask me. If we didn't have teleportation, even we could go down if we got caught.

And I know what I'm talking about, as I've used this type of combo many times when I was hunting.

But as I said, we have teleportation, so we can easily escape if we both get caught, or the other can help the other if she gets caught.

Sure, his physical attack can be deadly due to his size, but since we have the speed advantage, he can't even graze us.

Except for Shiro-chan, she is using Anger to increase her speed even more, and since she also has Heresy Nullification, Madness does not affect her.

Other than that, the only real threat is if the whole group decides to attack us at once, but we have our traps to take care of that.

'Shiro-chan, let me try the new trap myself.'

"Sure, no problem."

Thank you, Shiro-chan, you're a sweetheart.

Now, let's try out my - "us!" - new trap, "Welcome to the sauna." (Name still in development)

The arch is stepping on it right now.

There, the thread we prepared in advance stops it in its tracks.

Heh-heh. I made the thread so thin that it's practically invisible, then glued it to the ground so no one could detect it!

"Now that's what I call a sticky trap!"

I prefer the name sticky trap, but whatever.

All I had to do was lead my victim there.

But this is only the beginning.

I'm not naive, with stats as high as arch's, I could probably escape from the thin thread stretched across the floor by brute force.

And even if he couldn't escape, he still has magic to perform long-range attacks.

The weapon of choice for the arch is Poison Magic, one of my favorites.

Depending on the situation, it could even become a fixed turret.

Although in my case, my poison resistance is high enough to not cause me much damage anyway, so it's not that big of a deal.

In a normal fight yes, a dragon type monster is a big threat.

But this time, he messed up with the wrong opponents.

After all, I already know most of the attack patterns of this thing.

Think about it.

Think of all the strategies I've cultivated over time.

Preparing yarn, fighting with Poison Fang, shooting magic.

This is exactly what my fighting style looks like.

I'm sure this spider is no different.

We're both spider monsters, and I used to be a Taratect, too.

It is natural that our strategies overlap.

It's like "I already know your every move before you do it!" that kind of thing.

I could even win a 1v1 battle fairly against my sister (brother?).

Not that I'm going to bother to risk doing something so stupid.

I climb on the arch's back, now immobile thanks to the combined thread of me and Shiro-chan.

Then I use Dimensional Magic: Range Teleportation.

'Hold down the fort while I'm gone Shiro-chan.'

"Sure thing, good luck, Kuroko-chan!"

This is a trap we had thought to use against Araba.

Finally, we decided that it would not work with the dragon's high resistances and even less with his Imperial Scales, the upgraded version of my Dragon Scales.

But an arch Taratect does not have this Skill.

And its resistance is not as high as my most powerful magic.

The arch teleports along with me.

Our destination: over the magma lake in the Middle Layer, where I fought against the fire wyrm.

Welcome to the hot, hot sauna.

Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

How do you like the sight of the scorching red-hot magma!

It must be horrible for a spider whose weakness is fire!

Too bad for you, but I have Heat Nullification so this heat doesn't affect me.

I can't imagine how hot this arch must be getting in this place.

Below us lies the magma ocean, so falling would mean certain death.

For him, anyway.

Thanks to Heat Nullification, the fire no longer affects me at all, so I can calmly fall into the sea of magma without any problems.

Also, I am small, so even if I were not immune to the heat, I could move to one of the small islands around.

But the body of the arch is about fifty feet long.

None of the rocks down there are big enough for something that big to land on.

Besides that, this environment will drain your Hp just by being here.

I spent a lot of time developing my immunity, but the arch doesn't even have Fire Resistance.

Since you have Hp Rapid Recovery, your Hp is not really going down, but it still has to hurt.

So, your Hp Rapid Recovery is essentially useless.

Sure, he's using Dimensional Maneuvering to support his huge body in the air, but now he has to face me, a highly disadvantageous opponent, in a field of flames, his greatest weakness.

This is called checkmate.

Heh-heh-heh. I could do a victory dance, but not yet, I have to get back to Shiro-chan.

Okay, now, it's time to use Repellent Evil Eye!

Repellent Evil Eye is the evolved form of Heavy Evil Eye. Now, instead of just dragging the opponent down, I can pull him in any direction I choose.

And not only can I pull - I can also push with it.

If I use this pushing power in the space around me, I can even create a kind of barrier around me.

Although since air and other things are also repelled from me, I can't use it that way for long.

In addition, it may have evolved and acquired more functions, but its most powerful strength is still pushing down.

So, I point that downward force against the arch and push with all my might.

As if it was no longer struggling enough to keep its massive bulk in the air, I have now added even more gravity to it.

You can fall if you want to, okay?

Come on, the worst that can happen is that you die.

Now, hurry up and drop so you can serve us EXP, please.

The arch somehow stubbornly sticks to its Dimensional Maneuvering.

Then he makes a thread and shoots it towards the ceiling.

Really? You can't just fall?

It's not like I'm going to let you get away.

I use two spells, one from Black Magic and one from Flame Magic, Black Bullet and Fire Missiles.

Black Magic and Flame Magic are the evolved forms of Dark Magic and Fire Magic, one step below Abyss Magic.

They are not as powerful as Abyss Magic, but they are certainly easier to use and have some good spells, but I have my favorites.

Those named - Black Bullet and Fire Missiles.

They are the upgraded versions of Dark Bullet and Fire Bullet, and as their names indicate, they fire black and red orbs and missiles.

Along with the Dark and Fire attribute, they also seem to have the Shock attribute and the state alteration: Burn.

Burn, as its name suggests, is a state that burns the opponent every so often, making the Hp Rapid Recovery of the arch even more ineffective.

And along with the Shock attribute, which explodes when it hits targets, causing extra damage.

By the way, since they are high level magics, with Flame Magic being close to its final stage, they do a lot of damage.

Bullets and missiles hit the arch, more specifically, where it produces its thread.

The impact causes the yarn to deflect and incinerate, causing a lot of damage.

All right, let's get this over with.

I fire a volley of bullets and missiles without mercy.

Will it fall first?

Or will you run out of Hp first?

What will it be like?

The arch is doing everything possible to survive.

Oh yes, he's trying very hard.

He miraculously resists my attacks, using Healing Magic non-stop to heal himself, and even acquired the Fire and Black Resistance Skills.

I have to admit, this thing is very stubborn.

Great effort, brother (Sister?)

Now die already, will you?

My Black Magic and Flame Magic reach level 3 from constant bombardment, so I use my new spells.

These are called Black Spear and Flame Torpedo.

They are the improved versions of Black Bullets and Fire Missiles, but these have the Drill and Impact attributes.

The Black Spear pierces the arch and the Flame Torpedo destroys its head.

Finally, the giant spider, with stats exceeding those of an earth dragon, takes its last breath.

My level increases by 4 at once.

I take off my mute skin.

I hope the level up helped Shiro-chan in some way with his battle.

Anyway, I'd better pick up the corpse before it falls over.

I grab the arch as it falls and teleport back.

'Honey, I'm home!'

"Welcome back, honey, help me with this, will you?"

Well, I guess I'll have to enjoy this meal later.

It's probably tasty with the poison dressing on it, so I can't wait.

Oh, it looks like Shiro-chan took an Arch Major to the sauna.

Well, I guess I'll entertain them while Shiro-chan returns.

Let's dance!

From there, we simply repeat the strategy we used in the arch to kill the rest.

The Middle Layer, which once caused us so much difficulty, now serves as the key to our biggest trap to date, eliminating spider troops without mercy.

We finish off the 2 majors Teratects with the same method, then eliminate the rest of the group by randomly firing magic.

The statistics of adult Teratects and those things barely exceed one thousand.

As I am now, they are but a small thing to me.

Huh? The little lesser Teratects?

They died only from the shock waves of my other attacks, so what?

The arch, the 5 majors, the overgrown Teratects, and various extras that disappear before you know it.

Between the handful of larger prey and the large number of small insignificant ones, we ended up with a large amount of EXP.

Thanks to that, we both leveled up like crazy here.

Moo-ha-ha-ha! I can't stop laughing.

Shiro-chan is no slouch either.

With a dirty trick like this, we can defeat all kinds of larger prey, as long as they do not have a resistance to fire or are not too strong.

"Mind you, we had some additional advantages that helped us win this fight, but, still."

Yeah... it's kind of annoying that you can hear my thoughts but whatever.

It's like the old saying goes, really.

"'You can never be too prepared!'"

Information that saves lives.

A spider monster so powerful it rivals even dragon-type monsters. Its toughness and physical strength more than match its enormous body, and it is shockingly fast despite its appearance. Cleaver enough to use poison and thread attacks to its full advantage, this monster has few weaknesses. According to reports, any attempt to attack an arch Taratect that has bult a web is essentially suicide.

Danger Level: S (Run at the sight)

That would be all, I hope you enjoyed it.

Sorry for the delay, but I had personal things to do.

Bye bye.
