The bonfire crackled and spat, sending embers spiraling into the night sky like earthbound stars. Around it, the partygoers huddled in a loose circle, their faces flickering between shadow and warm light. Margot stood, swaying slightly, her gothic ensemble making her look like a witch.

"Gather 'round, my little lambs," she crooned, her voice carrying a hint of theatricality that set Lucifer's teeth on edge. "For I have a tale that will curdle your blood and haunt your dreams."

Reagan, sprawled on a beach towel with his head in Piper's lap, snorted. "Ten bucks says it involves a corset-wearing vampire."
