Bab 33: Chapter 63- Hypnotizing People

Gong Jinhai stood at the center of the temple, his eyes scanning the dark and musty interior. Looking for any signs of movement. The only light came from a few flickering candles that cast eerie shadows along the walls.

Suddenly, two rats fell from the ceiling, scrapping and squealing as they fought one another. Gong Jinhai's annoyance was palpable as he watched the rats, their presence a blasphemy in front of the god.

He unsheathed his dagger, the metal glinting in the dim light. With a quick and fluid motion, he performed a martial art move, cutting the air with precision. In an instant, the two rats were no more, their tiny bodies falling to the ground, cut into pieces by Gong Jinhai's swift dagger. The temple was silent once again, and Gong Jinhai resumed his vigil, his eyes fixed on the altar ahead.

Juanxiu and Siyi stood stunned as they watched the Young Lord effortlessly perform a deadly move, effortlessly cutting two rats into pieces. Juanxiu's mind was filled with confusion and concern as he tried to piece together what was happening. He had been under the impression that the Young Lord was simply a merchant, but now he was starting to wonder if there was something more sinister at play.

Perhaps he is being controlled?

The thought of the Young Lord being possessed by some malevolent force crossed Juanxiu's mind, reminding him of a similar situation he had encountered with Alchemist Cui Bai. The similarities were too uncanny to ignore, and Juanxiu couldn't help but feel a growing sense of danger. He remembered how Cui Bai moved like a mindless Alchemist. The horror that happened was still fresh on his mind.

He remembered the aftermath of the battle, how Madam Zhang Ai was unable to retaliate against the two people who had orchestrated it, and a shiver ran down his spine. Without any people to back them up in this situation, the three of them will not be able to do anything against those two.

Juanxiu and Siyi's gaze was fixed on Gong Jinhai as he carried out his ritual in front of the statue of the God.

Juanxiu's mind was racing, he wished he had a connection with Xiannu Yindao. With Xiannu's guidance, he could find out if this God was truly legitimate and learn more about its purpose.

However, the connection with Xiannu is only available inside the tower. Once he left it, he is on his own. Xiannu mention that once the tower is taken outside, the gods who are looking for it will immediately feel its presence. Once that happens, war will take place that will leave this universe vulnerable.

Just as Juanxiu was lost in thought, a warm hand landed on his shoulder, causing both him and Siyi to jump. They turned around to find Liu Peng standing behind them, a look of concern etched on his face. "This is too dangerous," Liu Peng said urgently. "We have to leave, now."

Juanxiu hesitated, he wanted more time to gather information and uncover the plans and intentions of the young lord and his followers. "Liu Peng, please give me just a few more moments. I need to know what they're up to." Juanxiu pleaded with his friend.

After a while, Gong Jinhai took out an eerie looking talisman. It appears like the same talisman that is pinned on the houses of the towns people but Juanxiu can't figure it out.

"This talisman is connected to different houses in town and they will be able to hear my voice. clearly" Suddenly, Gong Jinhai started reciting an unfamiliar chant: "Kaltor Naxx Zorv Zaleth Korith Vaelor Naleth Xith Zaleth Vaelor Naxx Zorv Kaltor."

Siyi immediately recognized the chant and covered her ears. Liu Peng noticed that something is app and copy Siyi.

"Let's leave," said Juanxiu. "This chant will be heard in houses with the talisman and it could cause serious consequences. We have to find the talisman and destroy it before it harms anyone."

The three of them quickly left the temple and headed back into the town. Juanxiu instructed Siyi and Liu Peng to cover their ears and search for the talisman, determined to stop Gong Jinhai's dangerous plan before it was too late.

They moved with urgency, their breaths quick and heavy. Siyi darted through the narrow alleys, her eyes fixed on the task at hand. She spotted the talisman, its eerie glow giving away its position. Without hesitation, she reached out and destroyed it with a single blow.

Juanxiu also sprang into action, retracing their steps from the parade and searching for any remaining talismans. His blade glinted in the moonlight as he cut through the air, striking down each talisman with deadly precision.

Meanwhile, Liu Peng swept through the part of the town where the parade of the cult had started, his movements steady and confident. He, too, found and destroyed any talismans that were still glowing.

Despite their best efforts, the three of them were unable to cover the entire town. There were still some talismans that remained, but they had already lost their glow, their purpose fulfilled. The three of them were too late. When they entered a house, they found the people inside in a daze, their eyes blank and unseeing. The air was thick with the scent of sweat and fear, and Juanxiu's heart sank as he realized the full extent of the damage.

As the three of them gathered back in the center of the town, they were visibly exhausted and covered in sweat. They looked at each other with disappointment as they realized that their mission to destroy all of the talismans had failed.

"This is going too far" said Siyi, frustration evident in her voice.

"We were too late. We couldn't cover the entire town in time," replied Juanxiu, his voice filled with regret.

"It's my fault," said Liu Peng, his tone filled with self-blame. "I should have been faster in destroying the talismans. I'm sorry."

"It's the fault of that Gong Jinahi," Juanxiu consoled. "We did what we could, but we lack the manpower."

"But what will happen to the people here now?" asked Siyi, her voice trembling.

"We'll have to find a way to snap them out of their trance," replied Juanxiu, determination in his voice. "We cannot let this setback defeat us. We have to keep fighting."

As Juanxiu, Siyi, and Liu Peng converse, the scene shifts to the temple where Gong Jinhai was seething with anger. The three of them had disrupted his plan and he could feel the life energy he fed was not even half of what it should be. With a malicious scowl on his face, he screamed in anger,

"Who is meddling with my plan? Who dares to interfere with the will of the gods?" His rage echoed throughout the temple, filling the air with an ominous aura. Gong Jinhai was determined to find out who was behind this and make them pay for their interference.

He unsheathed his dagger, brandishing it in front of the statue of the god. "I'll make them regret the day they crossed me! The power of the necklace will be mine, no matter what it takes!"

His voice echoed through the temple, sending shivers down the spine of anyone who hears it. Gong Jinhai's rage was palpable, and it seemed like he would stop at nothing to achieve his goal. The air in the temple grew thick with tension as he let out another ear-piercing scream, determined to make his point known.

Meanwhile, back in the inn, the four of them sat in silence, contemplating their next move. Liu Peng was deep in thought, his brow furrowed in concentration. Suddenly, he spoke up. "Tonight, when the cult marches, there will be more people joining them," he said, his voice low and serious. "If Gong Jinhai wills it, he could easily control the crowd and take them wherever he pleases."

Siyi looked at Liu Peng, her eyes wide with concern. "What can we do?" she asked, her voice filled with worry. "If a commotion breaks out, we won't be able to handle such a large crowd."

Juanxiu was also deep in thought. He spoke up, his voice filled with confidence. "We could try to cooperate with the Xiao clan," he said. "They are the second largest clan in town, after the Golden Alabaster Organization."

Liu Peng nodded, considering Juanxiu's suggestion. "It's impossible for the Xiao clan to act without anything to gain," he said. "But if we can prove that the Golden Alabaster Organization is behind the series of disappearances and the cult, then we could gain the trust of the people and even overtake them as the top merchant organization in town."

The four of them fell into silence once again, until Siyi spoke up. "Unfortunately, we don't have any proof," she said, her voice tinged with disappointment. "All we have are the tattered talismans that were left in front of the houses of the townspeople. That won't be enough to connect Gong Jinhai to the cult."

Suddenly, Liu Peng spoke up, "Is there any way to remove the hypnotism?"

Juanxiu shook his head, "Unfortunately, they have been enchanted, not poisoned. There's no potion or pill that can remove the spell."

Juanxiu sighed, regretting not studying enchantment earlier in the Tower. If only he knew that this would happen.

Siyi interjected, "What if we ask the manager of the Golden Alabaster shop to testify? Maybe she knows something about Gong Jinhai's unusual actions."

Juanxiu considered this for a moment, "She may be willing to cooperate, but she's very ambitious. We don't have anything to offer her in return."

Liu Peng added, "We are not in a position to offer her work at the Xiao store, and it is impossible to tempt her with pills or potions. We have nothing." The four of them sat in silence once again, feeling hopeless and at a loss for what to do next.

Juanxiu looked thoughtful for a moment, then spoke up with a hint of excitement in his voice. "What if we hypnotize her? If we can get her under our control, she might be willing to help us and give us the evidence we need to bring down Gong Jinhai and the Golden Alabaster Organization."

Liu Peng and Siyi looked at each other, both of them surprised by Juanxiu's suggestion.
