Bab 44: Chapter 37
While General Hawk lead the group into the Control Room where more technicians man consoles.One of the technicians told General Hawks"Mr. McCullen is standing by, sir."
Genral Hawks replied"Patch him through via Holonet.".
Duke questioned"So who hit us?" Scarlett spoke up"We currently don't know who she is working for. But one thing's for sure, she's got highly classified intel and state-of-the-art weaponry, which means there's a whole hell of a lot of money behind her. Their capabilities are beyond anything we've ever encountered."
Ripcord was annoyed and added" That's the reason we got our asses kicked."
Hawk smiled ignored it and said" We're already have the information about her, so you boys don't have worry about anything?"
Ripcord with slight desperation said"Just give us a chance please?"
Before Hawks could reply,McCullen 3D holographic projection now appears next to Ripcord and walks through him. Ripcord got freaked and yells"Jesus!"
Hawk gesturing to Mccullen said" Gentlemen, this is James McCullen, CEO of MARS Industries, the man who built these warheads."
McCullen ignorind told the Hawks"General, most men I've encountered in this business over-promise and under-deliver. You're the opposite. Clearly, you were the security option I should have chosen."Duke was steaming behind his military demeanor.
Duke while keeping stoic face spoke up" My team did everything we could out there. A lot of good men went down...."
Mccullen cut in"But not you."Duke controlled his emotions and replied" That mission was classified, sir. Clearly, somebody sold us out."
McCullen with an arrogant tone said" I've spent ten years and thirteen billion Euros creating these four warheads. Your job, Captain, was to protect them, and if it wasn't for General Hawk, you would've failed."
Hawk frowned and said" That's not a fair assessment. He followed his orders to the letter."
McCullen with scowl replied"Well that wasn't enough." Duke bristled at the comment,while Kage decided as his doubts"Mr.McCullen can you explain how these men had one of your weapons."
Kage then brought up a projection of the Pulse pistol, and rifle,then with another projection showed a Mar's weapons demonstration showing a prototype of the said weapon.
McCullen was shocked someone had noticed it,he had quickly school his features and said"I don't how that happened.Also that prototype was discontinued because of issues and the creator left my company."
Kage narrowed his at Mccullen ask"Is that so,then we would like the details of his person?"This go the attention of Breaker,HeavyDuty and Hawks to narrow their eyes at Mccullen with doubts.
McCullen nodded,but inside he scared of Kage as felt he was standing infront of some sort of Monster.
Mccullen soon snapped of it,with out looking at Kage he replied"I will send the info to the General."he then turns to Hawk and continued"What are your coordinates? I'll have NATO send another special ops team to retrieve the warheads, company strength this time."
Hawk apologizes"Mr McCullen. It's not that I don't trust you...I don't trust anybody."Mccullen smiled and asked"Are you sure you're not a McCullen?"
Hawk smiled back and replied" I don't talk smooth enough to be a McCullen."Mccullen in jest replied"You do just fine, General. Now, so the bastards who attacked you can't find you, you need to disable the tracking beacon hidden in the case."
Breaker pitched in" We already have."
Mccullen with a forced smile replied"Good man. So, can I count on you to deliver the warheads to NATO now? HAWK I think it unwise to expose them at the moment. This group might make another attempt."
Hawk nodded and said"We need to find and neutralize them before we can consider moving your weapons."
Mccullen nodded and replied"Alright. But allow me to check the warheads to see if any have been damaged." Hawks begrudgingly sets the case down. Breaker turns on his suit's ball-eyepiece. It goes into x-ray mode and we see the nano-mites crawling around inside the four warheads.
Mccullen gestured towards the case and said" Open it, please."
Breaker replies" My scan says they're intact..."Mccullen ignored him and looked at Hawks and said"General?"
Hawk asked"What's the code?" everyone was listening carefully. Mccullen replies"Five-two-nine-four-four." Breaker enters the code. As the case opens, Breaker and Kage discreetly watches McCullen in his ball-eyepiece scanner. McCullen runs his holographic fingers over the warheads. Satisfied, he turns to Hawk.
McCullen with sigh added"Please keep me informed of your progress, General."Duke and McCullen share a quick glare. But he didn't dare look at Kage.And then McCullen cuts the feed.
Scarlett notices both Kage and Breaker whispering to each other as she said" Kage? Breaker?"
Breaker looked at Kage who needed as answered" My voice analyzer on that guy was going up, down and sideways."
Kage added "Breaker is right he's hiding something,even though his face betray any emotions,he was nervous about something or about even looking at any of joes in the face.Also some of the weapons we faced were previously made from his company."
Hawks said"I will look into it."
Kage turned Heavy Duty and said"Do keep an eye on case."HeavyDuty nodded and replied"No problem captain."
