"You will fall." she shouted but was pushed back when the carriage shook violently. Elowen fell on her seat and her head hit the side of the window. She winced and the maid turned to look at her.

"The lord is our only hope, your majesty. Even if you do not want to live, we do not want to die here. No one would even know that we died." the woman sobbed as if she could already see her family mourning for her death.

The other nodded tightly, clenching her dress in her palms, "I am going to get married, your majesty. My husband is waiting for me. We did not choose to serve you today. Clara must have chosen us because she did not like us. This is all planned. Do you want to give them the joy of winning? Do you not want to defeat them and infuriate them?" she asked, sure that Elowen would want to hurt them too.

After all, they have hurt her all the time. But Elowen just stared at them as if their words were falling into her ears but not registering in her mind.
