Bab 9: The Offer

Eve felt the tingling sensation of thousands of bees buzzing from where there palms touched, vibrating up her arm to pound gently against her core. Her breath stuttered and her golden colored eyes widened with the thought that this was him. This was Adam!

Her mouth opened forming an O as she fell to her knees before him shaking with excitement.

"Pull down your hood," she breathed out softly as if she said it aloud, she would frightened him.

The angel hesitated slightly before his free hand reached for the edge of his hood. Her hand squeezed his as she stared at the blurred face hoping with all hope that it was who she wished for, that he was here.

"Brother Angel," Gabriel's voice spoke up, "It is important that you do not reveal who you are before you are named."

Eve saw the angel before her paused and she pursed her lips.

"He has a name Gabriel," Eve did not remove her eyes from the angel she believed to be Adam, "Your father wished for the world to grow? Then let me see him."

"My child is quite spoiled, wouldn't you say Gabriel?" Her father grinned shaking his head as he sat on the ground cross legged.

"She has many responsibilities," Gabriel replied glancing at the angel and demon on the ground, "Too many for her to hold."

The demon male huffed out a laugh and stood up, "He must be going crazy with this predicament, I would say."

He strolled languidly in his steps, swaying as if drunk off the drama. He stopped before the well known angel and tilted his head observing him.

"Hm, still as pretty as I remember Gabby," he grinned showing his pearly teeth, "Still enjoy kissing His feet?"

"I follow His rules; I do not choose betrayal," Gabriel stated as he turned and walked to the other angel, "We should return, brother."

"Now, now," the demon laughed, "Don't go running away Gabby! Let's chat, catch up. Let the kids have their moments."

The look Gabriel gave him only made him laugh harder. Gabriel, one of His favorite angel, was here on this filthy planet. Oh how far He would go to stop his daughter.

All she wanted was her lover and it was so easy to use her this way.

For so many centuries, her lover's death would die before her, leaving his daughter empty. She would wait anxiously for his return and complete their tasks. From answering prayers to creating chaos, Eve did so obediently with the reward of her lover's return.

Now, well now she couldn't give a damn!

So much closer to him that it makes his lips twitch at the thought of her being his queen.

'Then they would be unstoppable!' He grinned like a Cheshire cat holding a secret only he knew.

"Come Brother, why don't we bathe together like the old times," he offered motioning to the lake, doused in glitter from the stars.

"We are no longer brothers," Gabriel narrowed his eyes at him which made his smile twitch, "If I had known what you were capable of then, I would never have gotten close."

"Uhuhuh," he singsonged waving a finger back and forth, "You are sounding quite guilty and not the prefect angel, my dear Gabby."

Mouth thinned on his angelic face, Gabriel said nothing and focused his attention on the young ones.

He initially brought Adam as a backup in case things go south and he wanted to see his reaction to Eve. What he didn't expect was how easily Adam wanted to give into her demands. How much he would give up to return to her.

He would need to speak with his father about this situation. There were solutions in this and everything could return once again to how it once was. How his father wanted it.

"Eve," he inquired, "If this angel was Adam, what would you do then?"

"I would not interfere with the work of your father's or mine," she stated pulling the angel to a stand as she stood.

"You wouldn't even be able to stay with him, honey," her father stated with an incredulous look, "If he's an angel."

"If what Eve says is true, then we will find a way," Gabriel stated.

"It is unheard of. He would cut off his wings."

"That might not be the case."

"Of course it is! Then Eve would have to watch him die again!"

"He is not that cruel!"

"You idiot! Of course he is! That selfish piece of shit is nothing but lies!"

"How dare you speak of Him this way!"

"What?! That your so called father is weak? That he has to send his angels to work for him while he sits and be catered to?"

"You know that is not what he does!"

"You are an idiot! He could care less about anyone but himself!"

"You! Take that back!"

"Make me!"

A flash of the clouds lit up their surrounding as if the sun had rose. Sounds of footsteps came closer to them and they could feel the warmth He brought with Him.

"My Lord," Gabriel bowed and the other angel did the same.

"Hm, you finally showed yourself, father," the demon male stood up straighter as his eyes narrowed, saying the word father with a mocking tone.

Eve stepped forward as if to stand between the holy man and the angel she believed to be Adam.

'No one was taking him away again!' She told herself.

"Hello my children," his voice was like the press of the soft summer rays against her face.

"What do the people say? Speak of the devil and he will come?" A smirk fell against her father's face as he crossed his arms looking like he made his point.

"I am here to speak with Eve," His grace spoke clear and crisp like the bite of a well grown apple.

"To make a deal, is that right?" Her father walked to her and stood before her as if to protect her from the brightness with his shadow.

"This has nothing to do with you," God's voice came out strong as his chest puffed and eyes held the gaze of a lion.

"She is my daughter," her father's symbol glowed against his skin illuminating the dark as well as the ruler of the heaven had.

Outside amongst the sparkling of stars, the soft breeze of autumn air, and the rocking of the lake against the shore did nothing to ease the tension. Eve glanced back at the angel, no, at Adam. Head bowed awaiting his fate from his holy father, yet his hand was still wrapped with hers bounding her heart to his once more.

"My offer to you child," God finally spoke as the wave of heat from her father continued, "You may be reborn if you sever this bond you have with Adam."

Hands tightened, Eve narrowed her eyes as she could hear the whispers of lies in between his words.

"Why would I wish for that?" She gritted out holding back her powers.

"In doing so, Adam will be reborn as well."

Closing her eyes, she let out a shaky breath. She knew it. He was willing to use Adam like a hanging carrot above her head.

"Father," Eve heard the angel and turned to him, "In doing that, it would cause more harm to both parties."

"How so?" His holiness's voice bellowed out smoothly, yet held so much power that it felt even the trees were listening.

"They will still find one another. It is destined," the angel stood straight with his voice void of any hesitation or worry. The utmost confidence that reminded her of Adam. Her Adam.

"You are still young, my child," He hummed for a moment before nodding, "If what you say is true, then there should be no hesitation to accept my offer."

"No hesitation?" Her father, Lucifer, bellowed out a laugh before sighing, "You want her to give up her powers and control her once more."

"You are no different," Gabriel stated as he walked over to His Holiness.

"Gab-" her father started agitated with his fists clenched.

"That's enough," she touched her father's shoulder to push him to the side gently, "What do you gain from this?"

"For the world to be at peace once more," He said in his calm assertive voice.

"Without me," Eve added and glanced at her father, "You. What do you gain from me? Tell me honestly."

"Honest? Have I not been?" Her father smiled sweetly at her and she narrowed her eyes earning a sigh, "I want you to be my queen darling. Can you imagine the greatness we could do!"

"Your queen?" Eve frowned with furrowed brows. What the hell was her father thinking? What the hell is wrong with him?

Shaking her head, she looked at him tiredly before looking at the other father in the area.

"Not much can harm me," she stated and glanced at Adam, "Unless you have a hidden weapon."

"It would take time," Gabriel admitted with a smile, "I hope you will be patient."

"How long do you estimate?" Eve wondered.

"100 years perhaps," Gabriel offered an apologetic smile and Eve rolled her eyes.

"Sounds like you both get what you want," Eve glanced at both fathers with a frown. Of course it'll be like this.

"Then we shall leave," God spoke and the angel holding her hand squeezed once more before moving to his father, "Eve Morningstar."

And with the grace of God, all three vanished to the sky.
