A/N hey guys I'll just be adding the timer on ergo's head here from time to time, to let you know how long they've been fighting as to not further confuse you guys
As they once again faced off, Ichiro felt a surge of excitement coursing through his body. In the blink of an eye, both disappeared, debris flying in every direction from the force of their movements. Each clash of their weapons reverberated through the air, creating ripples from the intensity of their fight.
Ergo relentlessly pressed his attack, each strike aimed to kill. Ichiro, however, remained calm, slowly channeling his cursed energy. As he did, a special grade curse spirit began to form beside him. The special grade curse spirit, a monstrous entity with long, whip-like arms, stood ready at Ichiro's command.
"Intercept him," Ichiro ordered, his voice steady.
The curse spirit lashed out with its elongated arms, the whips slicing through the air breaking the sound barrier, toward Ergo. But Ergo, with his quick reflexes, dodged the initial strike and countered, aiming to subjugate the spirit. Yet, the curse spirit proved elusive, sinking into the ground to evade Ergo's attack.
As the scene unfolded, Ichiro took the moment to prepare for his next move. He readied himself, focusing his energy. Just as Ergo scanned the area for the hidden spirit, Ichiro launched himself forward, aiming a precise strike at Ergo's head. Ergo, ever perceptive, noticed the attack and retaliated with a swift strike of his own.
3:34
Before the attacks could land, the special grade curse spirit re-emerged from the ground. Its whip-like arms ensnared Ergo's arm and leg, immobilizing him. Seizing the opportunity, Ichiro closed the distance, his weapon aimed directly at Ergo's head.
*Clank*
To Ichiro's surprise, his sword bounced off Ergo's skin as if striking an impenetrable skin. The force of the rebound nearly made him lose his grip on his weapon. Confusion clouded Ichiro's thoughts as he quickly backed off, gaining some space while Ergo struggled against the special grade curse spirit's whip-like hands.
"What was that?... My blade bounced off?.... But how?..." Ichiro muttered to himself, his eyes narrowing as he tried to make sense of the situation. "In order for Mahoraga's adaptability to work, he needs to die multiple times by the same attack, but that's not the case with Ergo. He adapts the moment he dies?"
6:10
Ichiro's mind raced as he watched Ergo continue to fight against the curse spirit's hold. Despite the special grade curse spirit's strength, Ergo's sheer determination and raw power were slowly breaking the restraints. Ichiro's gaze shifted, scrutinizing Ergo's every move, trying to uncover the secret behind his sudden invulnerability.
Then, Ichiro's eyes caught something strange. The rings above Ergo's head, which had previously appeared dormant, were now rotating with an eerie feels to them. He furrowed his brows, trying to recall if they had been moving before.
"Have those rings always been moving like that?" Ichiro whispered, his voice barely audible over the sounds of the battle.
8:05
As more and more questions popped into Ichiro's head, his eyes were drawn to the second ring, which now had a spike pointing at the number 2 on the base of the larger ring. He also noticed the smaller ring moving in a seemingly independent manner. Piecing together the fragments of information, Ichiro began to form a hypothesis.
"Since I killed Ergo, those rings probably started moving," Ichiro muttered, his mind racing. "If my guess is correct, the larger ring likely represents Ergo's twelve lives. The second ring's spike pointing at the number 2 on the larger ring's base after I killed Ergo for the first time, indicating he has lost a life. But what about the smaller ring? How does it operate? Maybe it signifies something else, something crucial. I should just observe for a while and see what happens."
Having made up his mind, Ichiro launched himself at Ergo, delivering a powerful punch to his gut. The impact sent the shikigami sprawling across the ground. Ergo, momentarily winded, summoned his great sword, which he had let go of when Ichiro struck him. With a fierce roar, Ergo charged at Ichiro, and their weapons clashed once more, sending shockwaves through the air. The ground trembled from the intensity of their battle.
Ergo attempted a swift kick to Ichiro's side. Ichiro noticed and blocked the attack with his sword, but to his surprise, this was not Ergo's true intention. It was a feint. In a fluid motion, Ergo redirected his attack, aiming a crushing blow at Ichiro's head. The strike connected solidly, sending Ichiro skidding across the ground.
Grimacing in pain, Ichiro tried to regain his footing. Ergo seized the moment, hurling his great sword at Ichiro. Reacting quickly, Ichiro parried the weapon, deflecting it just in time as he struggled to stand. The force of the deflection sent vibrations up his arm, but he held firm.
Undeterred, both warriors charged at each other again, their movements a blur of speed and power. Each clash of their weapons sent sparks flying, the air vibrating with the force of their blows. The ground beneath them cracked and fissured from the sheer impact of their fight.
26:00
...As the place where Ichiro and Ergo fought became indistinguishable due to their onslaught, debris and dust filled the air, obscuring the battlefield. Ergo's relentless determination shone brightly as he dominated Ichiro, integrating feints and deceptive maneuvers into his attacks, further confusing his opponent. Each clash of their weapons sent shockwaves that shook the ground and shattered the remaining landscape.
Ergo's eyes gleamed with predatory focus. He pressed his advantage, delivering a flurry of blows that left Ichiro no choice but to defend. Ichiro's blade moved with desperation, parrying and blocking the onslaught, but he struggled to find openings for a counterattack. His mind raced, trying to devise a strategy as he was pushed further into a corner.
27:54
Ichiro, with no other choices left, tried a last-ditch effort by releasing his cursed energy in all directions. The ground beneath him trembled and cracked as the powerful energy surged outward, creating a shockwave that rippled through the battlefield. Dust and debris were thrown into the air, creating a blinding cloud around them.
Ergo, caught off guard by Ichiro's unexpected move, instinctively raised his great sword to cut Ichiro's head. However, as he swung, he felt an overwhelming force pushing against him, halting his movements. His body seemed to freeze in place, just as it had earlier in their battle.
29:29
Ichiro straightened himself and began to fix his disheveled appearance. He lightly tapped his clothes, brushing off the dust and debris from his intense fight against Ergo. Each pat sent small clouds of dirt into the air, a testament to the ferocity of their clash. As he composed himself, he turned his attention back to Ergo and with a serious gaze.
*Snap*
29:40
With a snap of his fingers, Ergo's body begun to violently explode, scattering fragments across the battlefield. Stepping back, Ichiro focused his energies, swiftly mending his own wounds in anticipation of the inevitable reprisal. As Ergo's body began to regenerate, assuming its pristine state once more, Ichiro's keen gaze locked onto the intricate mechanisms of the second ring. Its spike ominously aligned with the number 3 etched upon the base of the larger ring, while the smaller ring pivoted into alignment, mirroring the sequence witnessed before Ergo's initial demise.
30:00
As Ichiro braced himself for the next confrontation, he noticed with growing surprised that Ergo lay motionless, unresponsive to his presence. His eyes widened as he observed the smaller ring on the mechanism, tracking its movements meticulously. It clicked into place where it had been before ergo died, then unexpectedly the smaller ring began to rotate like the hands of a clock moving backward. As Ichiro's gaze fixated on the second ring's spike, now pointing decisively at the number 1 engraved at the base of the larger ring after the smaller ring went backward.
A realization dawned upon Ichiro amidst the chaos. "Exactly 30 minutes," he murmured to himself, his voice tinged with a mixture of surprised and calculation. "Given that they were exactly 30 minutes after I killed Ergo for the first time... I need to eliminate Ergo 12 times in 30 minutes gevin that if I unsuccessfully kill ergo in 30 minutes he will just regain his lost lives" He paused, assessing the situation with a wry smile. "And I seem to be unable to use the same method twice to kill Ergo, meaning I have to dispatch him in different ways?" His grin widened into a smirk of intrigue.
"Interesting," Ichiro mused aloud, his tone laced with both determination and admiration.
