Without a second warning, Shuten-dōji immediately dashed at Ichiro like a ferocious beast, his eyes blazing with fury.
"Yeah, that's it! Attack me!" Ichiro exclaimed with excitement, feeling the tension in the air rise.
"Graaaaaaaaa!!" With a loud roar, Shuten-dōji's oni suddenly started to move towards Ichiro, their eyes filled with bloodlust.
But this sudden action didn't faze Ichiro. A smirk crossed his face as he readied himself for the oncoming onslaught. "Heh, I knew you would do that."
Ichiro then muttered the names of his loyal shikigami, his voice barely audible amidst the chaos. "Skoll and Hati."
Two wolves suddenly emerged from Ichiro's shadow. Hati began summoning miniature versions of itself, which counterattacked the incoming oni. As the battle unfolded, the oni slashed and smashed the wolves, but to their dismay, the wolves began to heal themselves with the help of Skoll. The air was filled with growls, snarls, and the clash of steel against flesh.
Ichiro watched the scene unfold with a mixture of satisfaction and excitement. His loyal shikigami were holding their ground, keeping the oni at bay. He then turned his attention back to the ferociously charging Shuten-dōji, who was closing in on him with terrifying speed and fury.
"Now then, I guess I should deal with you," Ichiro said, his voice calm but edged with anticipation.
Ichiro readied himself, drawing his blade and pointing its end toward Shuten-dōji, who held a giant gourd in one hand. Shuten-dōji raised his weapon high, attempting to smash Ichiro to bits. In response, Ichiro sent a lightning-fast horizontal slash toward Shuten-dōji's stomach. To his surprise, Shuten-dōji immediately noticed the attack and narrowly avoided being cut in half by jumping back.
Ichiro didn't stop there. Charging at Shuten-dōji, he released a large amount of cursed energy, which crackled and surged towards his opponent. As he closed the distance, Ichiro drew his blade again, attempting a vertical slash aimed at Shuten-dōji. Sensing the imminent danger, Shuten-dōji leaped to the side to evade the attack.
However, Shuten-dōji's movement was suddenly halted as a snake-like cursed spirit wrapped itself around his entire body, immobilizing him. Ichiro smirked as he saw his chance. "Got you now," he muttered, preparing to deliver the finishing blow.
But just as Ichiro was about to strike, Shuten-dōji released a massive surge of cursed energy, the force of which strengthened him and shattered the snake-like spirit's hold. With a roar of defiance, Shuten-dōji punched Ichiro and the cursed spirit away, sending them both flying.
Ichiro skidded across the ground, the impact reverberating through his body. He quickly regained his footing, his eyes locked on Shuten-dōji, who was now brimming with cursed energy. The air around them crackled with power, the tension palpable.
"What just happened?" Ichiro muttered, dazed and searching for answers. His mind was racing, trying to make sense of the sudden shift in the battle.
"What the hell––" he began, but his words were cut short as a blunt object collided with his body, breaking every rib. The impact sent him skidding across the ground. He groaned in pain, trying to stand, only to find Shuten-dōji looming over him, a malevolent grin on his face.
Shuten-dōji swung his giant gourd towards Ichiro with deadly force. Instinctively, Ichiro ducked and swept Shuten-dōji's legs out from under him. The massive demon stumbled, and before he could completely fall, Ichiro, in a fluid motion, spun 360 degrees and delivered a powerful uppercut to Shuten-dōji's body which caused shuten-dōji to fall down face first on the ground
"You're quite strong, and fast at that too, not to mention you have an army of oni at your disposal, which is pretty impressive," Ichiro complimented Shuten-dōji, trying to buy himself a moment to think.
As Ichiro tried to turn Shuten-dōji towards him, Shuten-dōji's eyes were wide open. With a roar, Shuten-dōji threw a powerful punch, sending Ichiro sprawling to the ground.
Regaining his bearings, Ichiro looked up just in time to see Shuten-dōji's foot descending towards him. He immediately parried it with his hand, pushing the foot aside, and then backflipped away to gain some space.
'Damn, this bastard is tough. If I intend to end this, I must use a strategy. But what kind of strategy?' Ichiro thought, his mind racing.
After racking his brain for a strategy, an idea suddenly popped into Ichiro's mind, a huge grin spreading across his handsome face.
"That could work, hehehehehe," Ichiro chuckled to himself. "Given that Shuten-dōji dodged my attack instead of taking it, it means he's not that tough unlike the Black Tortoise. Alright, let's go with that."
Having made up his mind, Ichiro reached out both of his hand and released a large amount of cursed energy. Sensing something amiss, Shuten-dōji quickly took action, charging towards Ichiro with fierce determination.
"Ohh, you're trying to stop me?" Ichiro taunted, his grin widening. "Too bad, I've already set my plan into motion. Now it's just a matter of buying time."
Shuten-dōji launched a barrage of attacks from every direction, but Ichiro gracefully parried each strike, countering some with precise blows.
'Almost 10 percent of the oni are still not covered by my cursed energy. I still need to buy time,' Ichiro thought as he skillfully entertained Shuten-dōji's relentless assault.
As Ichiro's cursed energy finally enveloped all the oni, including Shuten-dōji, a huge grin spread across his face. He took a step back and gently sway his hand, causing all the oni, along with Shuten-dōji, to freeze in their tracks.
"Perfect," Ichiro said, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "Now that I have you all exactly where I want you."
Shuten-dōji's eyes widened in shock and fury, but his body remained immobilized. The oni around him were similarly trapped, unable to move a muscle.
"Now, I know you might be wondering why you suddenly can't move," Ichiro began, addressing Shuten-dōji with a hint of amusement in his voice. "Well, the thing is, I covered the entire place with my cursed energy, which I compressed to the point where you won't be able to move an inch. You understand now?"
As Ichiro finished explaining his plan to Shuten-dōji, an expression of anger twisted the demon lord's features. It was clear that Shuten-dōji did not take kindly to being outsmarted by a mere human.
"Now then, I should end this farce," Ichiro continued, his tone casual as if discussing the weather. "Given that I should be going home now, as it's getting dark."
Ichiro watched as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the barren landscape. His gaze shifted back to Shuten-dōji, who remained frozen in place, a silent testament to Ichiro's victory.
"Well then," Ichiro said with a sense of finality, his voice echoing in the stillness of the evening.
With a sharp clap of his hands, the oni, including Shuten-dōji, were instantly crushed vertically, like clay caught between two unyielding forces. Ichiro absorbed the remnants of their cursed energy, his shadow enlarging to engulf the remains of Shuten-dōji.
"Finally!" Ichiro exclaimed, a mixture of exhaustion and exhilaration evident in his voice.
Seemingly drained, Ichiro sank to the ground, his breath coming in ragged gasps. But the exhaustion was short-lived, quickly replaced by a renewed sense of purpose.
With a burst of energy, Ichiro leaped to his feet, his eyes shining with determination. He muttered the name of his new shikigami, "Shuten-dōji," with reverence and anticipation.
As his shadow expanded, revealing the imposing figure of the red oni, Ichiro couldn't suppress a smile of satisfaction. Shuten-dōji stood before him, a formidable ally bound to Ichiro's will.
"Two more left to go," Ichiro declared, his voice filled with resolve. "Once I'm done with my shikigami conquest, I'll go and save every single one of them. I won't let Nanami, Nobara, or any of the characters die. I'll make sure of that."
With a firm nod, Ichiro commanded Shuten-dōji to return to his shadow. He then called forth Griffin, mounting the creature's back as they soared through the dusky sky, heading home.
As they journeyed homeward, Ichiro's mind buzzed with plans and possibilities. With Shuten-dōji at his side, he felt unstoppable, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead in his quest to protect those he cared about and achieve his ultimate goal
