Bab 130: Federation's Presidential Election

Keiko was a little bit curious about the banquet and asked Jeanne for the details.

"Lieutenant General Smith is the host for the banquet this time," Jeanne answered. "He is preparing for the upcoming presidential election. Speaking of which, he's the Federation City Guards' chief of command. In other words, your immediate boss."

The seven seven-star generals served as the federal president alternately, with every term only lasting for one year.

Such a brief ruling period was to prevent the generals in office from abusing the president's position to design policies that benefit them, thus undermining the checks and balances among the seven generals.

The elected president was barred from running for office for the next three years. That meant General Armstrong, the current Federation's president, had effectively been excluded from the presidential seat after abdicating his position.
