Chapter 102: Halo Of Reducing Wisdom
"Oh, you've got a child," said Setsuna.
"Yeah, this is our proof of love," replied Hebimaru, smiling at his wife, Hebiko.
"So, what do you do for a living?" Setsuna asked, curious about their jobs.
"Currently, we're picking up scraps from scrapyards, but we plan to become ninjas," replied Hebimaru.
"Ninjas? Yeah, it's better to do D-rank missions than pick up trash," agreed Setsuna. "Are you guys ninjas?"
"No, not yet, but we know some basic ninjutsu. We want to do our best for Orochimaru," Hebimaru smiled, though Setsuna could see the worried expression of a father working hard for his family.
"How about working with me?" offered Setsuna.
"Working with you?" exclaimed Hebimaru, while his wife looked to him, waiting for him to decide.
"Yeah," Setsuna said, showing Hebimaru the camera. "This is one of our company's products."
"I know this product," said Hebimaru. "My wife wanted it last year."
Hebiko, too stunned, looked closely at the camera she had long wanted. They had saved enough money for it, but then disaster struck when their village was raided by bandits, leaving them homeless.
"Yeah, I plan to hire you as a worker, but if you're talented or have other useful skills, I can increase your salary," Setsuna offered again. He really wanted Hebimaru to work for him because he was the father of Orochimaru.
Orochimaru was a genius—though later a psychopath—who turned to evil after the trauma of seeing his student, Nawaki, killed in an explosion. But what if, instead of becoming a ninja, Orochimaru learned something else, like physics, chemistry, or biology? He might have become a renowned researcher instead of a shinobi, and his talent could match Setsuna's if he were also taught fuinjutsu.
But that was for the future. Today was the day to recruit Orochimaru's father to Uzushiogakure.
"Okay, we'll follow you," Hebimaru agreed. Though it felt a bit odd to be hired so suddenly, he had nothing else to offer. "But I'll go first to make sure your place is real and the job exists."
"Hahaha, I like your cautiousness," said Setsuna, clearly pleased that Hebimaru didn't just accept the offer without taking precautions for his family.
---Halo Virus Attacking---
It has been 4 years and the system had given up to convince Setsuna for him to have more children. But little did the system know that after 5 years he would be kicked out and branded as a failure because the host are unactive and the system failed to make host active.
This system is actually a bit stupid, his system name is a actually child System not the Son System. Because every child would contribute point and also merit not just son.
He also didn't read the instruction carefully that he needed to maintain the point and merit to block the Virus who could effect either Protagonist, Side Character, Villain or Cannon Fodder.
This Virus had attacked Setsuna before and make him somehow stupid and the same virus would attack the other side character and make them commit a mistake. Known as the "Halo of Reduced Wisdom," the virus gets its name because it truly diminishes the intelligence of those it infects. For example, Setsuna, who was once clever and sharp, became so affected that he failed to notice when the Uchiha were attacked by Tobirama.
The Halo of Reduced Wisdom virus had managed to re-enter the world again because the system lacked enough points and merit to activate the antivirus service.
However, the Virus couldn't attack Setsuna directly since he was a system user. Instead, it targeted someone else. The first victim was Uchiha Izuna. Despite hearing from Setsuna that his family would face danger, Izuna's wisdom had dropped so low that he believed Konoha was safe. He couldn't fathom that an enemy would infiltrate the village just to face dozens of Uchiha. Moreover, the Hyuga and Senju clans, known as some of the strongest, were also present, reinforcing his misguided confidence.
"Husband, how about we start a business?" Nezuko suggested. She was always anxious when her husband left the village, fearing he might be ambushed during a mission.
"That's a great idea. I was thinking about buying a camera from Setsuna and starting a business here," Izuna replied.
"A camera?" Nezuko was impressed with how Setsuna continued to invent one product after another. Reflecting on her husband's relationship with Setsuna, she agreed. "How about we ask Setsuna about his new products?"
The next day, Izuna went out to gather information about Setsuna's products.
"One camera costs 600 ryō?" Izuna asked the shopkeeper.
"Yes, that's an older model. The new one has better picture quality and costs 3,000 ryō," the shopkeeper explained.
It wasn't too expensive, considering D-rank missions paid between 500 and 2,500 ryō. After doing some calculations, Izuna estimated he would need around 150,000 ryō to open a shop and hire several workers.
When he returned home, he discussed it with his wife.
"Honey, I think I need to do one last mission before I retire," Izuna said.
"How much do you need to open the store?" Nezuko asked. "I have some savings around 20,000 ryō."
"Based on my calculations, we'll need between 150,000 and 200,000. I only have about 5,000 ryō left," Izuna replied.
"Why don't we start with a small breakfast stall?" Nezuko suggested.
"Hmmm, actually, there's a mission that pays a lot, and I want to take it," Izuna said.
"Are you sure? I think a breakfast stall could make good money too," Nezuko responded. "I've noticed the Akimichi clan, they love to eat and they have a lot of money."
"Honey, let's raise the money first. We can open both businesses," Izuna suggested.
"Kazuha will miss you," Nezuko said softly.
"This will be the last time, I promise. After this, I won't go on any more missions," Izuna assured her.
Little did he know, this would become his last promise that he fulfilled to his wife. It would indeed be his last mission, as his loved ones would be taken from him forever. When that time comes, only tears and regret will remain, and that regret will plunge everything into chaos.
