Suizi looked along at the unfamiliar streets and the stranger in the rear-view mirror that was supposedly herself. The only familiar thing was Yu Jingting, the man driving the car.
He was like the street ruffian from her memory, but not quite the same.
Some parts of him, his cheeky side specifically, were just like she remembered, but other details were quite different.
For instance, he would hold her up to a mirror, carry the bedpan in the hospital, open the car door for her, start a conversation with her when he saw she was bored on the ride home.
But when he saw that she kept staring out the window, he stopped talking.
Having no memory of their past interactions, Suizi couldn't realize that these traits of his were nurtured by herself. This man was like a rough gem, warmed in her hands for years, slowly carved into exactly what she wanted with her gentle touch.
Suizi even heard Yu Jingting say "thank you" to the Head Doctor when checking her out of the hospital.
