Daisy sat there wondering how everything had gone so wrong so quickly. Pole looked like he was about ready to draw his sword on Lady Helene and she didn't know what she was supposed to do to diffuse the situation.
"Pole! It's really okay. Don't do anything rash," she tried to tell him but her words fell on deaf ears.
"No can do, Your Majesty. This one will await the king's verdict as soon as—oh, they're here. You two take over for us. We're taking this one down to the dungeon."
"This one?!" Duchess Atierre screeched, affronted at being addressed that way.
"What happened?" a soldier-turned-royal-guard Daisy recognized but didn't know by name asked. He completely ignored the duchess's protests.
"She decided it would be a good idea to insult Her Majesty and threaten her at the same time," Pole said as he rolled his eyes.
"Well, that's the stupidest thing she could have done."
"Exactly."
