He never said she was the only thing he had to live for specifically but it was kind of obvious based on his actions. That was incredibly concerning. 

She didn't want to have someone else's life in her hands! Especially not someone she cared about. That was a lot of pressure and if she did something wrong someday, it might push him over the edge.
