Bab 38: Kite A Kat

Ponzu's desperate message about the Chimera Ant infestation found its way to Kite. Realizing the severity of the situation, Kite's face hardened with resolve. He knew immediate action was necessary. He turned to his colleagues, Podungo and Stick.

"We need to get this information to the Hunter Association right away," Kite instructed. "Podungo, Stick, return and notify them. Tell them the infestation is worse than we anticipated."

Podungo and Stick nodded, understanding the urgency. They quickly gathered their things and set off on their mission. Meanwhile, Gon and Killua, eager to help, stood ready by Kite's side.

"We're coming with you," Gon declared, his eyes filled with determination.

Kite nodded. "Very well. But know this, you will face dangers far beyond what you've encountered before. Stay alert."

With that, Kite, Gon, and Killua headed deeper into the NGL, the land becoming increasingly wild and dangerous. The once-peaceful landscapes were now marked by signs of Chimera Ant activity, a stark reminder of the threat they faced.

Confrontation with Rammot

As they entered a seemingly deserted village, the atmosphere grew tense. Suddenly, a Chimera Ant named Rammot appeared, blocking their path. Rammot was a formidable opponent, his presence exuding an air of menace.

Kite stepped forward and addressed Gon and Killua. "This is your fight. I need to see if you two are strong enough to handle these creatures on your own."

Gon and Killua exchanged determined glances and stepped forward, ready to prove themselves. Rammot sneered at them, clearly underestimating the young hunters.

The battle began, and it quickly became apparent that Rammot was no ordinary opponent. His speed and strength pushed Gon and Killua to their limits. Despite their initial struggles, they relied on their training and teamwork to gain the upper hand.

Gon used his Rock, Paper, Scissors technique, charging his fist with Nen and delivering a powerful blow. Killua, with his lightning-fast reflexes and agility, darted around Rammot, striking at every opportunity. Their combined efforts began to wear Rammot down.

Finally, with a synchronized attack, Gon and Killua managed to defeat Rammot, leaving him severely injured but alive. As they caught their breath, Colt, a humanoid Chimera Ant who had been watching the fight from the shadows, emerged and quickly retrieved Rammot.

Kite observed the fight with a critical eye. "You both did well," he said. "But remember, this is just the beginning. There are many more like him, and some are even stronger."

Gon and Killua nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. They knew that their journey into the heart of the Chimera Ant territory was far from over, and the challenges ahead would only grow more intense.

Deep within the Chimera Ant nest, the atmosphere was thick with the stench of blood and the whispers of newly born soldiers. Rammot lay in a recovery chamber, his body slowly mending from the brutal encounter with Gon and Killua. As his wounds healed, something extraordinary began to happen. Rammot felt a surge of energy coursing through his veins, awakening a power he had never felt before—his Nen.

Rammot's eyes snapped open, glowing with newfound intensity. He flexed his muscles, feeling the incredible strength and energy that now flowed through him. He clenched his fists, sparks of aura flickering around them. The power was intoxicating, and he knew he had become much more formidable than before.

Nearby, Peggy, one of the Chimera Ant intellectuals, observed Rammot with a keen interest. Peggy had been tasked with studying Nen and its applications within the Ant army. He watched as Rammot's aura flared, making mental notes.

"It would have been convenient to interrogate Dice about these abilities," Peggy mused aloud, frustrated by the missed opportunity. Dice, another Nen user, had been captured but had managed to escape before he could be thoroughly questioned.

Meanwhile, Dice had managed to survive the initial onslaught and was hiding among a heap of skeletons within the nest. She remained motionless, barely daring to breathe, as he watched the Chimera Ants scurry about. His heart pounded in his chest, knowing that discovery would mean certain death.

Dice's luck ran out when Neferpitou, one of the newly born Royal Guards, appeared, exploring the hideout with a curious yet menacing air. Pitou's feline ears twitched as they detected the faint heartbeat and aura signature of Dice. A sinister smile spread across Pitou's face as they approached the pile of bones.

With a swift movement, Pitou reached into the heap and pulled Dice out by her neck. Dice struggled, but Pitou's grip was unrelenting. Pitou's eyes gleamed with a dangerous curiosity as they examined their captive.

"Interesting," Pitou purred. "You possess knowledge about life energy."

Pitou's aura flared menacingly as they used their abilities to lobotomize Dice, rendering her compliant and unable to resist. Through a painful and invasive interrogation process, Pitou extracted all the information they needed about Nen, including the different types, how to create Nen abilities, and how to identify one's Nen type.

Satisfied with the information, Pitou discarded Dice like a broken toy, tossing her aside to be dealt with by the other Chimera Ants. Dice, now a shell of his former self, was dragged away to be processed into a human meatball—a gruesome fate for anyone caught within the nest. The Queen's appetite had grown insatiable, now requiring 250 meatballs per day to sustain her as she prepared for the birth of the King.

As Dice was dragged off, her mind shattered and body limp, the nest buzzed with a new sense of purpose. The information about Nen would be invaluable in strengthening the Chimera Ant forces, making them even more deadly and efficient in their conquest.

Inside the Chimera Ant nest, Neferpitou finished extracting all the necessary information from Dice. The aura of satisfaction around them was palpable as they absorbed the newfound knowledge about Nen. However, a sudden sense of new, formidable auras caught Pitou's attention. Three powerful presences were making their way towards the nest—Gon, Killua, and Kite.

Three powerful presences were making their way towards the nest—Gon, Killua, and Kite.

Pitou's feline ears twitched, and a wicked smile spread across their face. "Intruders," they murmured, eyes gleaming with excitement. Without a moment's hesitation, Pitou leaped from the nest, their powerful legs propelling them into the air and toward the source of the auras.

Kite, Gon, and Killua were making their way through the dense forest of NGL, wary of the potential dangers that lurked around them. Suddenly, Kite's eyes widened as he felt an overwhelming and sinister aura approaching at an alarming speed.

"Gon, Killua! Retreat, now!" Kite barked, his voice filled with urgency.

Gon and Killua hesitated for a split second, but the sheer intensity of Kite's command made them turn and start to flee. However, before they could move more than a few steps, Pitou landed in front of them with an almost imperceptible blur of speed.

Pitou's presence was overwhelming, their aura suffocating and terrifying. Without wasting any time, Pitou lunged at Kite, their claws gleaming with deadly intent. Kite barely had time to react as Pitou's claws slashed through the air, severing his arm with a swift and brutal strike.

Blood splattered, and Kite staggered back, clutching the stump where his arm had been. The pain was excruciating, but Kite's focus remained on protecting Gon and Killua.

Seeing Kite's injury, Gon was consumed with rage. His eyes burned with fury as he prepared to launch himself at Pitou. "You monster!" he screamed, his aura flaring violently.

Killua, recognizing the futility of the situation, moved swiftly. Before Gon could make a reckless attack, Killua struck him at the base of the neck, knocking him out cold. Gon collapsed into Killua's arms, unconscious but still brimming with untapped anger.

With Gon incapacitated, Killua turned to Kite, his voice trembling with urgency. "Kite, we'll come back for you! Please, stay alive!"

Kite, gritting his teeth against the pain, nodded. "Go! Get out of here! I'll hold them off!"

Killua, carrying Gon's limp body, sprinted away from the scene, his heart heavy with the knowledge that they were leaving Kite to face Pitou alone. But he knew that staying would only lead to their deaths as well.

As Killua and Gon disappeared into the forest, Pitou turned their attention fully to Kite. Kite, determined to buy as much time as possible for the boys to escape, summoned Crazy Slots. The roulette spun rapidly, finally landing on a weapon. A scythe materialized in Kite's hand, gleaming ominously.

Pitou grinned, their eyes narrowing with anticipation. "This should be fun."

Kite, despite his severe injury, stood tall and ready, his scythe poised for battle. "Bring it on," he growled, ready to fight to the bitter end.

With the roulette landing on Number 1, the Scythe of Reaper's Embrace materialized in Kite's hand. The weight of the weapon and its lethal curve felt familiar and powerful. Despite his severe injury, Kite's resolve was unshaken. He knew the condition of this weapon meant he had to go all out on the offensive.

Facing Pitou, Kite tightened his grip on the scythe. The determination in his eyes was unmistakable. "Let's see if you can keep up with me," he muttered, charging forward with the scythe ready to strike.

In that moment, Pitou launched again, ready to tear off another limb. But Kite, knowing their tactics, used Waltz. A chilling aura sent shivers down Pitou's spine, causing them to instinctively throw their hands to the ground and jump mid-air to dodge the attack.

Her instincts correct, she was able to avoid the swift cut, which struck in a 360° arc, cutting all the trees around them in a split second.

"I was hoping to finish this in one move. But you're really dangerous, aren't you, Chimera Ant?" Kite said, a hint of frustration in his voice.

Pitou, seeing Kite standing confidently, smirked. "You seem more fun than the others. You're the strongest thing I've seen since I was born. Let's continue to have fun. I want to test out this aura of mine."

Kite knew that if he didn't defeat this creature now, the world would be devastated by these creatures. He summoned Crazy Slots again. The roulette spun and landed on Number 5. A boomerang appeared in his hands, sharp edges gleaming ominously.

"So this is what you call an ability. Yours is very fascinating. It seems to be very versatile in nature, creating multiple weapons out of thin air. You have my attention. You don't seem strong enough for us Royal Guards. So you would be no threat to the King. I could spend my time playing with you, my new toy."

"You think this is a game? Let's see if you keep laughing. Take this," Kite shouted, throwing the boomerang. The weapon increased in speed as it honed in on Pitou.

Pitou dodged the attack and jumped towards Kite, aiming to test his martial arts skills. But instinctively, Pitou realized the boomerang was coming back even faster. She caught it mid-air, but it exploded, creating a massive cloud of smoke.

"I don't think that was enough to defeat her," Kite thought, his mind racing. "This creature is too dangerous to keep alive."

Pitou emerged from the smoke, unscathed but irritated. "That wasn't nice. We were having so much fun, and you had to ruin it with this nasty explosion of yours."

Kite, unfazed, summoned Crazy Slots again. The roulette landed on Number 3: Mace of the Titan. A heavy mace materialized in Kite's hand, its weight immense.

"Is that all you have? Show me more," Pitou taunted, eyes gleaming with excitement.

Kite swung the mace with full-bodied motions, each strike requiring significant strength. Pitou took advantage of the brief moments of vulnerability after each swing, counterattacking with precision. Each scratch from Pitou's claws cut into Kite's flesh, but each time Kite struck, Pitou was sent flying.

The battle raged on until morning. Kite knew he was fighting a losing battle, but his determination to buy time for Gon and Killua never wavered. As Pitou lunged at him once more, Kite's Crazy Slots activated one final time, a mysterious slot that even he had never seen before. Slot ten—a weapon shrouded in black.

As Kite fell, this last slot began to activate silently, unbeknownst to Pitou. Kite's body emitted a faint glow, and a wisp of his aura detached itself, moving unnoticed towards the Chimera Ant Queen's nest. This aura, imbued with the essence of his Nen, slipped through the defenses and found its way to the Queen, embedding itself deep within her body, hidden and dormant.

Pitou, having defeated Kite, returned to the nest, unaware of the lingering aura now within the Queen. She reported the battle to the Queen.

Killua, carrying an unconscious Gon, finally reached the border of NGL, escaping the grim fate that had befallen Kite. Exhausted but determined, he sought out Kite's remaining companions to regroup and plan their next move. As he approached the border, he was met with a surprising sight—Isaac Netero, the Chairman of the Hunter Association, stood there with Morel Mackernasey and Knov, part of an elite extermination team formed specifically to deal with the Chimera Ant threat.

Killua, still catching his breath, quickly explained the dire situation with Kite. Netero listened intently, his expression serious yet calm. Once Killua finished, Netero nodded thoughtfully and handed Killua two warifu pieces.

"These pieces," Netero began, "are a means for you and Gon to prove your worthiness to rejoin us. You must reclaim the other halves from Morel's apprentices. They are temporarily stationed in a nearby town. Succeed, and you will earn your place in the fight against the Chimera Ants."

Killua, understanding the gravity of the task, accepted the pieces. He then set out to find Morel's apprentices, knowing that the future of their mission depended on his and Gon's ability to rise to this new challenge.

Killua reached the town where Morel's apprentices, Knuckle Bine and Shoot McMahon, were stationed. The town was a quiet, unassuming place, a stark contrast to the danger that loomed over NGL. Knuckle and Shoot had been briefed about the upcoming test and were prepared for the arrival of Gon and Killua.
