Bab 2: Off Behaviour
I woke up to the sound of shuffling feet, I kept my eyes closed for hope of falling back to sleep. As I drifted closer to the sweet dreams I had experienced moments prior I began to feel something warm against my foot, it was pleasant until I wasn't. Moments later the feeling changed to burning and I shot up shaking my boot to the sound of laughter from my rear. Turning around I saw the twins Ruffnutt and Tuffnutt, the same from the dragon arena and the dock when I first arrived. I only however saw their fleeing rears as they left the hall.
After walking up i find my way my shirt that i had apparently thrown off, I but it own quickly to hide my back. I had a long scar running down it from a Nadder, although for Vikings scars were a boon I didn't enjoy them. I can only assume it was due to my pass life. After clothing myself I leave the hall and begin my day.
Later at the Arena
Hiccup - "Hey, you known, I just happened to notice the book had nothing on Night Furies. Is there like another book, or a sequel? Maybe a little Nigjt Fury pamphlet?"
I could hear his question through the wooden wall as the Nadder Gobber released today was jumping around above us. I was running around trying to get to the dragon before I bump into the twins and notice the walls fall around us revealing Astrid and Hiccup. I hear the twins say something before Astrid uses the shield stuck to her axe to strike the Nadder before it retreats to its cell.
Astrid turn to Hiccup before speaking "Is this some kind of a joke to you? Our parents war is about to become ours. Figure out which side you're on."
I decided to help the boy, perhaps out a pity? honestly I do not know. "Astrid leave him be. Not everyone is born to slay dragons some take time to get there". I can hear here say something in response but I ignore her in favor of helping Hiccup. "You may have failed today but what's important is tomorrow you'll be better" I say stretching out a hand. He slowly takes it with an appreciate smile and a thanks as I slowly walk away.
As I make my way out of the Arena and the familiar scent of iron I hear foot steps behind me. Turning to see the others I hear Snotlout speak "Why defend him hes a loser anyway". Its a good question frankly but I choose to ignore it as we split ways. I spend my day with Gobber helping him at the forge, I have little to no knowledge about such things but handing him tools and listening to his stories requires none of that.
Later that night I was walking with Gobber to meet up with the others when he decided to ask about my home island. It's called Ravenrock I suppose because of our clan name, it's a beautiful place with wide forest and beautiful streams. We grown most our food, lands so fertile there you could spit and something would grow. I tell him about my Family my father, mother, and brother. I was interrupted however when we arrived at a watch tower where we start eating and telling stories like how Gobber lost his limbs, apparently he was 'delicious'.
Fishlegs rambles about how if he could still control his hand he could kill the beast that ate it, but how would you know what your hand was doing if you cant see it? After Gobber talks about where to aim on a dragon to cripple its flight I decide to tell them about the only dragon I've killed. It was a Nadder the same one that got my back. It was beautiful thing, deep shades of purple and blue littered its hide. I still wear a necklace with one of its teeth to this day. Apparently my story impressed the others as we talk for hours before finally preparing to leave but I notice Hiccup was already gone.
"Hey where does he always go by the way?" my question was answered by a resounding "Nobody knows". It was odd but I was interrupted by Snotlout who but a hand on my shoulder "Eivor! Come stay at my place tonight I want you to tell my dad you're story, he always loves a good kill".
Slowly making my way to Snotlouts house I meet his dad Spikelout, he's pretty cool, I can tell by the house he's pretty important too. I also see someone I've been meaning to see, Stoic! "You! I've been meaning to find ya" he bellowed from behind his orange beard "you picked a good time to show up! I see you already known Snotlout. Well me and his dad spoke and you're gonna be sleeping here from know on" he declares and it was so I spent the night in a spare bed they had.
The next day we were fighting a Zippleback in the arena with nothing but buckets off water, I had Snotlout and Tuffnut at my back before I hear Snotlout "If that dragon shows either of its faces, I'm gonna... There!" both him a Tuffnut both splash their water on the approaching figure. "Hey its us, idiots!" said the figure now revealed to be Ruffnut. Her twin quickly responded "Your butts are getting bigger. We thought you were a dragon." earning a harty laugh from myself, Snoutlout tried to flirt with Astrid before he got punched which made me laugh even more before Ruffnuts bucket bounced of her brothers thick skull and into my head. I watch Tuff get dragged off before a tail tries to sweep me of my feet, I jump in time to dodge but I knocks Astrid and Ruffnut down as Tuff runs off screaming "Oh, I'm hurt! I am hurt very much!"
Now with just me, Hiccup, and Fishlegs a head reveals itself earning some water from the latter. It turned out to be the wrong head as it spits gas around us, the other head comes out and Hiccup makes an attempt to splash it but fails so I quickly run up behind him and jump pushing off his head before throwing water on it. "Now what?!" I yell to Gobber as the head nips at me. the beast pins me down as I hold its jaw open to prevent me from being eaten. "Hiccup! A little help!" As I say that Hiccup test the creature what to do and it listens as it backs into the cell. "Woah got ourselves a dragon whisperer!" I say as I chuckle "Nice save Hiccup." I smirk as I walk towards the others I knew he had it in em.
The next day he pulls another new trick doing something weird to a gronkle. Afterwards we walk down the bridge the others were asking questions except me and Astrid, Hiccuo however runs off to grab an axe he left in the ring... "Weird I've never seen him with an axe?" I say in a whisper to myself, Astrid however must've heard as she responds "me neither"
The next day was the same with a Nadder, as me and Astrid ran to fight with an axe and spear respectively it just dropped to the floor in what seemed like bliss. Later that night we were sitting in the hall before the others saw Hiccup and ran to his table causing Astrid to slam her mug.
"Astrid calm down" I tell her in response to the thud against the table
Astrid - "Calm down cant you see something's weird?!"
"Ya Hiccup has been strange but who cares" I say returning to my book on Thunderdrums.
The next day was another trick with using light from his shield Hiccup lead the Terrible Terror back into its cage.
Apparently I've become Astrids friend since I'm the only one who doesn't swoon for Hiccup at this point. Because of my new position I found myself sitting on a rock as Astrid threw her axe at a tree and ranted to me. Truthfully I didn't listen much, I did respond with things like "that's terrible" or "I cant believe it" just to appease her though. I some point she just went silent which did make me look up only to see her run upto a large rock and look over it.
"Astrid?" I ask in confusion due to her sudden actions.
Astrid - "hmm? Oh it was uhhh nothing!?" she says looking around and slamming her fist down onto the rock.
"Um okay then?" I shake my head and return to my book on Timberjacks this time, Fishlegs gives good recommendations.
That night I was sitting on the roof of a house only to be drawn to look at the forge when I hear Astrid talking to someone. I see Hiccup come out of the building as they talk before he's lifted off the ground and into the building in a fraction of a second. Astrid quickly opens the door to see him gone but I saw everything. my eyes hardened as I saw him run off on something on realizing what I was when it took of into the air. Hiccup was helping a dragon...
