Bab 34: C33 He's a Half-Phoenix

Sirius' Downfall
Black Manor | 17thDecember 1985 | 4 PM
"…. and then we went to Honeydukes. But line was sooo big, so we went to Potter Sweets shop. I didn't know dad put a sweets shop. There we met an old lady, Charlus, what's her name?"
Charlus simply shrugged, "I don't remember. It was very long."
Harry moved on, "And then we went to Zonko's. And the old man said he knew Pa'foot. He said we don't need to pay! But after that we were hungry. I think Pa'foot was playing Hide and seek with us. We didn't find him. Then this kind lady came with this big sister and helped us find Pa'foot."
Harry was narrating the day's events to Remus who had come to the Black Manor when he found that Charlus had come back from Beauxbatons. Sirius was nowhere in the living room where he would normally be when Remus came.
"Aah! I'm sorry Andy, I won't do it again! Aah!"
Shrieks were periodically resonating throughout the building, and Remus had finally understood why. He should have known that Sirius would have been that irresponsible. He sighed and got up.
"Uncle Mooney, what did you get us?"
Harry looked at Remus with large and hopeful eyes. Remus was amused at the sight, which he would experience every time he came to the Black Manor. Remus dug his hand into the pockets of his robe, and took out a ball. It was very small, only as big as 2 marbles combined. He handed it to Harry.
Harry was a bit disappointed. He was used to exciting gifts like machine cars and flying dogs, and a ball seemed very plain to him.
Remus explained to Harry why the ball was special.
"Harry. This is a bouncy ball. It has a lot of energy in it. If you bounce it, it will go very fast. Take this button. If you want the ball to stop, you have to press the switch. Okay?"
He handed Harry the switch and left Harry to his own devices to figure out how exciting his new toy was. He then turned to Charlus and said, "Charlus. I'm giving you this button just in case things go out of hand. As for you, I'm giving you this book you wanted."
Remus first handed Charlus a button that looked exactly like the one Harry had, and then gave Charlus a very small figure that looked like a wikepedia was shrunk into a key-chain decoration. Charlus had requested Remus via mail to get him a book that had everything the world knew about Alchemy. Since it was impossible for such a book to exist, Remus simply got Charlus a book which had the summary of the past 500 years of Alchemy.
Charlus was very thankful that Remus had gotten him the book.
"Thank you Moo-"
"Mooney! Save me!"
Sirius had entered the room and hid behind Remus. Andromeda entered the room a few seconds later with a wand in her hands. Remus nodded at her.
"Mrs. Tonks."
"Remus, how wonderful to see you. How many times do I have to tell you? Please call me Andy."
Andromeda was followed by Nymphodora, who was peeking fro the side, into the living room to see what was happening. Sirius saw how much akwardness the situationmust have caused Nymphodora and immediately announced.
"Charlus! Harry! That over there is your cousin Nymphadora, and this demon is your aunt, Andromeda."
Andromeda looked towards Sirius and effectively shut him up. She then brought Nymphodora into the room and said, "This is Nymphodora. I'm sorry Ted hasn't come, but he's busy in the clinic."
Nymphodora whined at her mother. "Mom! It's not Nymphodora, it's Tonks!"
Nymphodora clearly did not like her name very much, which was amusing to all the men in the room.
"Nympadoora, hehe." Harry giggled.
Nymphadora became embarrassed and fled the room. Remus looked at Harry disapprovingly and then said, "Charlus, Harry. Show your cousins the Manor. We adults have to talk privately."
Charlus and Harry ran out of the room and chased after their cousin. After they left, everyone's expression became serious.
"So Sirius, why did you call me? You didn't bother after 8 years."
Sirius looked down apologetically and said, "I'm really sorry Andy, but now it's about Charlus. Remus, I called you because you should know this too. Chalrus isn't human."
Remus looked at Sirius and said, "Wow Sirius. You look so serious. If I didn't know you, I would have thought this was real."
Sirius looked at Remus and said, "It is real Remus. I had even went to Dumbledore."
Remus then understood the seriousness of the issue. Sirius never used his name unless the issue was very real.
Sirius continued, "Andy. You might not know this very clearly, but Charlus was kidnapped 10 days after his birth. At least we thought so. It turned out someone had saved him. After coming back, we though nothing was wrong with him. But in a Gringotts blood check, we found that he had Phoenix Blood. He became a half-Phoenix in September."
Remus and Andromeda were shocked. They had heard of cross breeding of species, but never heard of Half-Phoenixes.
"I wanted to ask both of you if there could be anything wrong with Charlus. He didn't seem as enthusiastic as before, and I keep seeing him read more and more books instead of spending time with Harry. He used to love Harry to death. I know I am sounding mad, and this could be the side effects of being in school, but I find it very odd that a kid would willingly spend hours and hours on books."
Remus and Andromeda ignored the last part of Sirius' concern. It was quite illogical to think that the contents of a person's blood would influence his habits. They were more concerned about Charlus' well being as a half-creature. Being a were-wolf, Remus understood that being a part creature could be painful, and he wanted Charlus to be safe. Andromeda wanted to make sure that he was not affected by diseases and rare body conditions because of his new blood status. They were both ready to help.
