Bab 209: His Deep Regrets (1)

''Welcome back, your grace.'' Back at the Hayes duchy, Dante was welcomed back by the usual lined-up servants and Spencer standing in front of them.

Out of habit, Dante's eyes shifted to the spot beside Spencer. There was a time a silver-haired woman always greeted him with a bright smile. Her blue eyes were only on him, twinkling like the stars and revealing how much she loved him.

'Welcome back, your grace.' She had been the one who uttered those words and not spencer.

'Isla…' Dante staggered down from the steps affixed to the carriage. One of his hands stretched towards that empty spot that had nothing but a fading memory. A fading person who was his wife.

''Your grace?!'' The hearts of the servants watching the stumbling duke leaped out from their chest. They rushed forward to stop the duke from falling to his death.
