Bab 13: Sweet Gifts (2)

Alpha Prince Eryx crosses his arms against his broad chest, biceps straining against his leather armour. 

Today, he was dressed more for battle, perhaps even a hunt, but black belts crisscrossed his chest, holding two gigantic swords on his back, weapons that a Were like him didn't even need. The armour was unlike our own, most definitely lighter and fitter for warmer climates, but the fur-collared cloak added that layer of warmth. Weres' had high body temperatures anyway, but the snow could still cause ice sickness and a Southern Were most definitely struggled in our weather.

As it were, the Prince was eyeing my bare shoulders like I was crazy. Then I realised we'd been observing each other quietly for a few minutes. Heat coiled around us. The tension burst when I glanced at the carcasses. "So that really is a romantic gesture?"
