Bab 105: An outsider

That moment didn't last long. As if finally becoming sober, Ilkar removed his hands from her cheek and stepped back.

 His gaze lingered on her for a heartbeat, a mix of emotions flickering across his face. 

Then, without a word, he turned and walked out of her room, the door closing softly behind him. 

He didn't seem angry, but there was a palpable distance, a wall he had put up between them.

Eiravyne stood there, the silence of the room pressing in on her. 

The warmth of his touch lingered on her skin, a bittersweet reminder of the connection they shared. 

She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself, her thoughts a whirlwind of confusion.

Minutes turned into an hour as she waited for Martha. When the door finally creaked open again, Eiravyne turned to see Martha rushing in, her eyes wide with concern. 

As soon as she saw Eiravyne, she let out a choked sob and hurried to her side.
