Bab 93: Last Stand!

As King Cain and his remaining men pressed forward towards Atlan, they were met with an unexpected sight - the city stood unguarded, its once vigilant defenders having abandoned their posts. A grin of triumph spread across Cain's face, relieved by the lack of resistance. Beside him, Duke William, still mourning the loss of his fallen soldiers, wore a somber expression.

"It seems we shall have a pleasant stroll today," Cain remarked, the satisfaction evident in his voice, as he turned to Duke William.

However, the weight of the casualties suffered in this war weighed heavily on Duke William's heart, causing a cloud of regret to shroud his thoughts. Accepting the responsibility of leading the front lines, he now questioned the choice he made that fateful day. Yet, he knew there was no turning back, and he had to play the hand he was dealt. Faking a smile, he responded with forced enthusiasm.
