Bab 54: Escape

CHAPTER 54

The flickering streetlight casted long, grotesque shadows across the alleyway, deepening the frown lines on the man's face as he twirled the dagger.

Its glint caught Skai's eye, sending a tremor of fear down her spine. She backed away, her worn leather boots whispering against the rough pavement.

"You little fool," the man snarled, his voice dripping with venom. "Think playing hero is a kid's game?"

Skai swallowed, the lump in her throat making it hard to breathe. Her eyes darted around the grimy alley, searching for an escape, a weapon, anything. Her heart hammered against her ribs.

Every muscle in her body screamed at her to run, but the man's wide stance blocked her retreat, cutting off any escape towards the main road.

A sneer stretched across his face as his gaze raked down her body. "Looking right fine," he leered. "Think you might be more fun than the last one."
