The death of the gang boss basically announced the end of the movie. However, until now, neither of the two undercover agents had been exposed.
Billy, who returned to the police station, received a hero's welcome. Even the policeman who had been at odds with him poured coffee for him. And people told him that Colin had been waiting a long time.
This is the first real meeting between the two undercover agents.
After a few pleasantries, Colin told Billy his file password without any precautions. Billy took the file bag and walked towards the captain's desk, trying to unlock Colin's file. However, the way he walked made Colin hesitate.
At this moment, Colin turned his head and found the document with his secret mark on it among the pile of documents on the table.
The secret note on the document let Colin know who was undercover. He feared being plotted against by Billy, so he fled the police station. And Billy immediately understood why he had to leave; he deleted Colin's file, and no one could prove that Colin was a policeman anymore.
A policeman who has been undercover for ten years is about to become a real criminal by this time. And the criminal, instead, became a policeman. It seems that Billy has won a comprehensive victory. However, Billy still can't be completely relieved at this time: Colin knows his true identity, and his identity is still in danger of being exposed.
After returning home, Billy saw the indifferent face of his fiancée and the disassembled stereo, in which there was a disc - it is said to be a disc brought by the person who debugged it.
The music rang again, and Billy immediately knew who had been there. And followed closely. The dialogue that appeared in the audio made Billy understand: Colin has been with the gang boss for many years. After all, he can find the evidence hidden by the gang boss and use these things to threaten Billy.
Billy became the only person in the world who knew that Colin was a policeman, and Colin held Billy's evidence in his hand. The two form a rather interesting chain again.
Colin can't appear before everyone, and Billy doesn't dare to go after Colin wantonly.
And his fiancee also knew that he was an undercover agent and was forcing him to make a choice. If Billy keeps silent, even if Colin doesn't show up, he will be betrayed by his fiancée. As mentioned earlier in the movie, his fiancée is the captain's daughter.
Once again, Colin had the upper hand.
There is no gunfight, fighting, or hand-to-hand combat between this pair. It's a battle of wits and courage.
At this time, Colin rang the phone and asked Billy to meet him in the building where the captain died.
Moreover, Colin not only made an appointment with him but also gave a copy of his own evidence to the psychiatrist - he was cautious in doing things, and it could be said that he was step by step.
Again, the movie went to the rooftop. Billy, who was at the end of his rope, had to make an appointment to meet Colin in person here.
Colin stood behind Billy. He held Billy with the muzzle of his gun easily and neatly and took off his gun.
The two met again, but this time they were no longer here to discuss how to deal with each other but were talking about their own fate.
"Give me a chance. I didn't have a choice before, but now, I just want to be a good person."
The two started talking on the rooftop, the conversation shown in the trailer. But until then, Eric didn't know what is the meaning of this paragraph?
The seemingly simple conversation between two people contained all kinds of negotiations.
"Sorry, I'm the police."
"Who knew?"
Billy's rhetorical question seemed simple but extremely biting. Indeed, Colin's file has been deleted, so the only one who can prove his identity is Billy.
Even if Colin exposed Billy, if Billy refused to testify for Colin, Colin would not be able to prove that he was a policeman.
It is precisely because of knowing this result that Billy wants to make a deal with Colin: Colin conceals information, and Billy proves it for him. His question was as simple as this: should two people die together or live together?
Obviously, Billy wanted the two of them to live together, but Colin's answer was just as simple. He suddenly pulled out his gun and pointed it at Billy's head.
The camera zooms out suddenly, with the clear blue sky above and the dirty and noisy city below. Colin standing here, made his own choice.
What he chose is self-evident: the place he decided to meet was the place where the police officer died.
He still chose this kind of place until now; how could he easily compromise with Billy?
He would rather die to bring Billy to justice. This is his choice.
Billy and Colin, after all, are different.
Although Billy keeps saying that he wants to be a good man and a policeman, he still uses the means of a criminal to do things: compromise, lure, and threat, and he does not have the style of a policeman at all.
Although Colin has been pushed into a desperate situation, he still follows a policeman's work style: never compromise with criminals.
The two people's work is different from beginning to end.
"Put down the gun!"
At this moment, someone spoke. In addition to the two people, another person went to the rooftop.
It was the cop played by Matt Dillon — Eric recognized who it was, but he didn't know what the man was there for.
"He was an undercover agent and killed the captain." Colin grabbed Billy and explained. Of course, the police didn't believe it, but he didn't care - what he needed was not that the other party believed - as long as the recording evidence was handed over to the police, Billy would be caught.
That's all Colin wants now. As long as the police catch Billy, then everything will come to light.
Colin didn't dare to let go of Billy, he grabbed Billy, confronted the police, and moved forward, and they walked to the elevator again. The elevator behind him sounded softly, and the door opened.
Colin also turned his head, glanced back, and ensured the elevator opened.
At this moment, the police officer pointed his gun at Colin, and after a gunshot, Colin fell to the ground!
Already in despair, Billy raised his head to look at his colleague and was petrified. He didn't understand why his colleague would shoot, and he couldn't believe that the person who murdered the gang's boss had killed someone who had worked as an undercover agent for ten years and seemed to be in control of the situation at this most critical moment.
Colin fell to the ground; his body lay across the elevator door. The elevator door bumped against his leg, but he couldn't make it.
Not only did he not believe it, but even Eric and the others watching the movie couldn't believe it either.
Colin, the protagonist, died at this time?
When the movie is almost over, shouldn't justice prevail? How can this happen? Hasn't Colin already made it clear that the truth will be revealed soon? Why did the policeman shoot?
"Don't be afraid; we are our own people. Now that the boss is dead, you will cover me in the future."
The policeman came over and patted Billy gently. Only then did Eric understand something: there is more than one undercover agent; this guy is also an undercover agent!
"I've already destroyed those tapes. I joined the police force in 1994. I haven't been reused or promoted to the police force for years. In fact, I'm very capable..." The policeman kept talking, and while talking, he held a gun and shot Colin twice.
After shooting, he picked up Colin's gun again and handed it to Billy with a handkerchief — apparently, he wanted Billy to shoot twice with this gun and faked Colin's shot to resist and was killed on the spot.
Billy took the gun silently, and they moved Colin's leg and walked up the elevator.
The elevator started to move again. In the elevator, gunshots rang out. It seemed that everything was really going according to the police's arrangement, and it appeared that this was really the end.
The police officers deployed outside are already in full battle. And the elevator door opened, and Billy walked out holding not a gun but his own police officer ID.
"I'm a policeman."
These were the first words he said after he came out. There was a rare look of relief on his face. Looking back, in the elevator, next to Colin's body, the policeman who shot and killed just now also fell together.
It was another unexpected death, but it made people feel very real.
What Billy wanted to do was no longer an undercover agent, and he didn't want anyone to know that he was once a gangster. He wants to be a good person.
In order to be a good person, one must kill people — it may seem like black humor, but it is reality.
After all, the gang boss saw the right person. Although this policeman is ruthless, he is far inferior to Billy. At the end of the fight, they were all dead, and Billy was the only one left, looking at their dead bodies with a somewhat unpredictable look.
Billy reported the situation: Colin was an undercover agent who broke into the gang, and the dead policeman was an undercover agent who broke into the police. The policeman killed Colin, and he himself killed the policeman, found out the truth, and avenged the captain and Colin.
Since everything came to light, there seemed no need to pursue anything. Billy did a good job again, and he got a promotion. And Colin was also buried as a policeman. Billy saluted him silently in front of his grave, but he didn't notice that the psychiatrist behind him was also staring at him.
The screen of the movie went black, and the film ended here.
The subtitles had already appeared, and at this moment, the audience all stood up.
There was endless applause in the cinema - this movie is worthy of all people's expectations!
