Two of the Corrosive Slimes noticed and in a split-second decision, they disengaged the tendrils that had linked them to the third slime, forming a protective barrier of their gelatinous bodies. Their forward-thinking move was a testament to the adaptability of these enigmatic creatures.

The nearly ten-foot-long lance of light, its core blazing with an incandescent intensity, hovered ominously, stuck to the ground. It was a harbinger of destruction, a celestial embodiment of Arthur's power. But the swift reactions of the two Corrosive Slimes had momentarily thwarted its path, and their shields covered their vulnerable fronts and backs.

However, one of the Corrosive Slimes had been caught off guard, its sluggish retreat impeded by the abrupt severance of the tendrils that had connected it to its brethren. It was too slow to erect a shield, and that moment of hesitation was its downfall.
