Her tattoo is tingling in warning so she knows this man is definitely a threat to her. That's why she wasn't forceful or angry when the man didn't answer her. He simply smiled at her. She made more gestures to her squad with her hand. 

She told them to "Prepare for battle." While she said to the man, "We are demorgorgs of the kingdom of life. Our current objective is backed by the god-king. To oppose us is to oppose the god-king."

The man finally spoke. He said, "Run."

They didn't run. They formed up and brought out their weapons to fight. The man sneered. Then he brought up his hand and produced a ball of light in it. One might think it is a ball of light because it is so white. They would be wrong to think so.
