Bab 19: Emptiness

Damien's POV:

"Where are we going?" I asked my mother, my voice thick with frustration as I trailed behind her.

"You'll see," she replied cryptically, not bothering to slow her pace. 

Something in her tone told me she wasn't going to elaborate, so I fell silent, following her through the dense woods surrounding our pack's borders. The path felt vaguely familiar, though I couldn't quite place it at first. But then it hit me, like a punch to the gut.

I stopped dead in my tracks. "No… no. We are not going to her," I growled, the anger already simmering beneath the surface. "We're not going to that witch."

My mother didn't respond. She didn't even turn to look at me as she kept walking, her footsteps sure and determined.
