Bab 5: First Mission (3)

The young Exorcist would find himself trapped inside the Taylors Manor. He didn't even bother checking the doors behind, they would obviously be locked and instead paid attention to something he had missed in the first place.

In front of him was the entirety of the welcome hall and a grand staircase in the middle that led to further rooms, chandeliers lay overhead with lit up candles and shelves were adorned with paintings, vases and other caricatures.

Creaks and cracks would sound all around him and yet even this abandoned manor lacked the look of age and wear at all. Everything was spotless, there were no spooky spider webs or any black rats that filled the old ghost mansions that he and the others encountered before—and that just raised the eerie levels of this place to a top notch higher than before.

And yet that didn't matter to him.

He was here to do one thing and that was to banish the Poltergeist from this world. And yet there was something wrong about this place that made him more wary, a Poltergeist could create sounds, "But why is this manor so clean?" He asked himself.

If one ignored the dreary look of the manor from the outside, the interior of the manor was well-kept. The grand hall itself was primarily empty as he stepped in but ornate chandeliers were now lit up and adorned the ceilings, the walls were a pristine white hue that had no hint of darkness.

Asahi Yamagami could already imagine the sounds of people living within here, children running around the staircase filled with laughter, the gossip and rumors of the butlers and servants, the smell of—he stopped himself from getting too caught up in his musings once again.

The young man clasped their forehead for a moment and took a deep sigh. Somehow, it was as if the entire manor had been stuck frozen in time before he came in.

He could only wonder what had exactly happened to the Taylors to meet their end, he probably should have waited for the explanation and yet he had gotten too excited and his father had been eager for dinner.

Still, how could he exactly lure the ghost out?

Asahi Yamagami turned to his watch first and began to select items that might help him—

"Who dares trespasses into the Taylors Manor?!" His entire surroundings began to quake, old paintings hung in the walls shook as numerous vases began to drop from shelves and Asahi glanced up right in time to see the chandelier drop.

He froze up for a second before barely moving out of the way as debris littered the entire floor. Where did that voice come from specifically? Asahi Yamagami's heart raced.

It seemed like he didn't need to lure them out when they were already this mad in the first place.

Falling chandeliers and other adornments on walls were quick to drop dangerously over him as he dodged and avoided the lot of them. The young man felt an impact on his head and felt a searing warmth moisten as the stench of blood filled his nostrils.

His vision darkened for a moment but he kept himself awake and moving, this wasn't the time for him to weaken at all. Shards of a broken vase lay near his feet as he avoided them and clenched his jaw, he tried not to wobble and clamber down into his knees.

Poltergeists were supposed to be capable of this but—another door flung open as a cabinet was thrown into his direction!

And was quickly sliced in two by a sizzling beam of energy. Asahi grimaced as he looked at the bolt of energy that crackled in his watch, a laser meant to deal with enemies were now used on furniture. He needed to deal with this as soon as possible or retreat.

Retreat? Call for help? What was he going to say to them? He got hit by a vase and couldn't complete the mission?!

Asahi Yamagami prepared his ghost binding talisman as his gaze swept all around him, "Show yourself and let's talk! I have a reason for my presence here. I come in peace!"

He wasn't keen on talking to whoever had attacked him, but it was the way to go. Although he was probably didn't make any sense anymore, things like ghosts couldn't—

"Y-You ruined my favorite cabinet!" A voice shrieked from all around him. He heard some glasses shatter.

The young man blinked for a moment, he wasn't exactly sure if Poltergeists were supposed to sound so intelligent and even if so, "I'm sorry, did you not care about your vases and chandeliers?" Why did they have a favorite cabinet and why did they use it in the first place?

Silence only answered him.

Asahi was afraid that they might have left him and he would have to start tracking them down again but the entire place seemed to darken, an eerie mist began to form all around him. The heavy drapes moved back and spilled moonlight into the grand hall.

It was there that he finally saw her.

A young woman with long dark hair descended down the staircase with an epitome of grace and grandeur. Her gray eyes landed on him with a self-superior look as she reached the carpeted floor. "Who are you and what brings you here to the Taylors Manor?"

Asahi Yamagami was positive that something was wrong, this was way too much for a simple Poltergeist. He glanced down at his watch, "Spirit Scan Please."

His Exor watch lit up and produced a green field of light that immediately scanned over the figure.

"R-Rude! What is this?!" The young woman recoiled back but then realized that nothing was happening to her. "W-What kind of trinket watch is that?!"

Asahi Yamagami stepped back momentarily and felt his head spin—maybe it was the blood, it was the blood. He pressed a hand on his forehead and felt the damp and sticky blood. "Agh, I can do this." He was still holding the ghost binding talisman in his other hand, he ventured forward, tried not to stumble as he slapped it on towards the girl.

"P-Pervert!!!"

When Asahi looked up, he realized that his hand and talisman slipped into her chest so he frowned at her reaction, "I don't feel anything—"

Those were his last words before a bookshelf slammed into him.
