You watched Chrollo's sleeping figure for a while before your hand almost automatically wandered in his direction.
You wanted to grab his hand but your own just slipped through.
And there it was again; the feeling of this icy cold that wrapped around your skin like a second layer.
No matter how hard your body tried to fight it, your hand stayed in Chrollo's hand.
A few times you even pulled your hand back just to put it back in his just to make sure that coldness was really his.
When you finished your admiration, your eyes slid to his face.
You'd seen Chrollo's face a few times now and yet you just couldn't get over his good looks.
His porcelain-like skin, his wide eyes and lips that looked as smooth as butter.
The prominent chin, the long black hair, the tattoo on the forehead whose meaning or reason you still didn't know.
You would like to ask him about it.
You wish you could move his hair to the side now to get a better look at his tattoo and his closed eyes with the long eyelashes.
You didn't know when, but eventually your eyes closed again.
The next morning you were woken up by your alarm clock.
You had a hard time opening your eyes but when you finally did, Chrollo was gone.
Disappointment spread through you and you just let it happen.
You didn't feel like putting your feelings aside again and again and not even solving the problem with it.
Even your heart couldn't stand it much longer that your head kept banging on it and saying that there would never be a happy ending for you.
You knew that was true, but then you just had to try to get over your feelings in other ways.
You laid back down after your alarm clock went off and you tried for what felt like an eternity to go back to sleep but your thoughts always revolved around one thought: 'I like Chrollo more than just a friend'.
After this felt eternity, however, you remembered the reason why your alarm clock rang in the first place.
"Oh shit!" you exclaimed, throwing the covers of the couch off your body and quickly grabbing your phone to check the time.
You exhaled in relief.
It had only been 10 minutes since you should have gotten up.
You got up and went to the kitchen to get something to eat after the feeling of having a heart attack wore off.
Finished eating, you went upstairs to get dressed, leaving your phone downstairs to charge.
When you opened the door to your bedroom, Chrollo was standing in front of the open window.
You could only see a shooing movement of his hand before he stood completely still.
"What are you doing?" you asked, leaning against the door frame.
"I enjoy the fresh morning air." He replied and turned to you with a slight smile on his lips.
He was bent over the window frame and had his elbows on it.
It was slowly getting light outside.
You returned Chrollo's smile briefly before walking towards the closet and gathering your work clothes.
"Sorry" Chrollo said before walking out of the room without giving you a chance to reply.
As you were about to wash your face in the bathroom, you caught your reflection in the mirror.
You recoiled.
Your eyes were glassy and reddish, as was the skin around them and your eyelids were slightly swollen.
You also looked paler than usual.
However, you triee not to be fooled by your appearance and washed your face with cold water.
'You won't get sick,' you said to yourself in your mind.
It would be incredibly bad to have to call in sick now.
Only after you bumped into some furniture and objects and felt dizzy at the top of the stairs did you realize that maybe it was the case.
When you got a headache in the car on the way to work, you told yourself that you could do it.
To just hang in there, at least for today.
However, when you thought of the talkative Hisoka you also had doubts about that.
As soon as you entered the break room you felt Hisoka's eyes on you and a few other colleagues who were present also exchanged a few glances.
"You look horrible." Hisoka had finally remarked a few hours later after he had stopped his rant.
By now your headache had gotten worse, the dizziness was getting worse and you felt like you had no strength to move your limbs.
When Hisoka had handed you a box of canned products for you to put away a few minutes earlier, you thought that any second your arms and legs would just give in under the added weight.
"Thanks.." You finally answered Hisoka's statement.
For hours since you'd walked into the break room, his eyes had barely left you and it was starting to get on your nerves.
"Go home, (Y/N)" Hisoka said but it sounded more like a command than anything else.
He was leaning against one of the shelves and looking down at you who was crouching on the floor to put the product in the right place.
"It's alright.." you replied and you were quite sure that you had never heard such a serious tone from Hisoka's voice.
"I'm serious," he just said, adding to his previous words.
"If you tell the boss you're not feeling well, he's one of the last to say you should keep working. You look like a ghost anyway with your pale face. You're haunting this business." He nudged you a little with his foot, but you ignored him.
For a few moments you continued to sort in until suddenly Hisoka's hands laid on yours.
His cold fingers were long and wrapped around your hand completely, but his palms were warm.
You let him pull you to your feet and with your hands in his he dragged you into the boss's office where he explained the situation.
It only took the boss a quick look at you to agree with Hisoka and free you from work for the day.
He also told you that you should see the doctor today to get a reasonable sick note and a disability certificate, which you should bring to him as soon as possible.
"Don't come back until you're well again." Hisoka had told you when saying goodbye.
The thought just crept into your mind that maybe Hisoka wasn't such a cold person as you initially thought when he added something.
"Sick workers can't be used anyway."
