Bab 213: Shameful Action

Elian sat propped up on the bed. His face was pale but calm, a stark contrast to the turmoil that had recently surrounded him. Across from him, Niko paced nervously, while Aria busied herself adjusting the pillows behind Elian, fussing over him like a mother hen.

"I'm fine," Elian said for what felt like the hundredth time. He gave a reassuring smile, though his voice carried a hint of weariness. "It'll take more than a few rumors to pull me down."

Niko stopped mid-step, crossing his arms with a raised brow. "Says the one who couldn't stop crying yesterday," he quipped before his brain caught up with his mouth.

A heavy silence fell over the room.

"Niko!" Aria shrieked, glaring at him before smacking the back of his head. The sound of the slap echoed through the chamber as Niko flinched, his hand flying to his head in protest.

"Ouch! What was that for?" Niko exclaimed, rubbing the sore spot.
