“Welcome to the Wooten Tucunis, Miss DeMarco. We’ve been expecting you.” A front desk woman greeted Seeley, handing her a paper shopping bag, and then turned to Yas. “We welcome you too, Miss Kennedy.”

“What, no gift bag for me? Don’t make me call management, Yumi.” The plucky pharmacist put her hand on her hip and winked.

The front desk woman with short hair, Yumi, laughed, putting her hand over her mouth.

“Don’t get me in trouble the day before the VIP arrives, Yas!” she whispered. “I’ll see what I can do, but that’s her book!”

Seeley looked inside the bag and got out her grandmother’s journal. She flipped through the pages, almost forgetting about what she thought was so important in the first place.
