No matter how much Caroline tried to decline the invitation, she was eventually dragged away by Loraine. Someone from the crowd began to fuss, "Gosh, Caroline, your sister is just asking you to have lunch with her, how could you refuse such a simple request. Why are you being so melodramatic?"

After that, the rest started to chime in as well, "Are you too ashamed to have a meal with Loraine? You're jealous of her, aren't you?" 

"Yeah, aren't you guys sisters? Come on, just let it go already, you don't have to be so petty about things, right? Even if Loraine seems to be living a better life than you, she's still family."

Caroline could only gape at them wordlessly. Even the mere thought of dining with Loraine made her retch.

However, she knew that if she didn't, they would only continue to discuss the matter behind her back. In short, there was no way around it other than to just accept the fact that she was at a disadvantage either way.
