Bab 5: Teatime!

"Still no changes today then?"

"None at all Madam. We are scheduled to check on him again in another hour."

Yara Draven slowly nodded after hearing the words of Duke, the head butler of the castle.

Duke was a very old dragon who'd been around since Yara was a child and was almost always at her side.

He wore a typical black butler's outfit with a golden handkerchief on his breast pocket.

He had a finely trimmed white beard, a stern yet handsome face, and twin horns in his crown of neatly styled white hair.

Two days ago, Yara's only son had collapsed and his condition took a turn for the worst.

They had called every doctor they could and yesterday he finally stabilized, but he had yet to wake up and she was beside herself with worry.

"My lady please try to relax. I believe you have an appointment you must get to, correct?" He reminded.

"Yes… Yes, you're right Duke. I should get going." As Yara turned to head toward the garden for tea with her daughters in law she paused momentarily. "Please inform me of any changes."

"Of course, princess. You will be the first to know."

As she continued on her walk to the garden, Yara couldn't help but offer her son another silent prayer while once again cursing the fact that his father was not here with them.

-

Upon entering the garden and being surrounded by the vibrant, luscious greenery, Yara immediately felt her worries slightly lessen.

Seeing the rich colors of the flowers, and smelling mellow scent of her favorite tea brewing did wonders to calm her mind that had been constantly running.

Walking on the pathway to the center of the garden, Yara soon caught sight of a large handcrafted wooden table where two beautiful young ladies sitting down and chatting happily.

"Sorry I'm late girls." Yara said with a warm smile on her face.

"Oh Mother, Hello! "

"Hello Mother!"

Taking her seat across from them, she finally felt a bit at peace amidst their warm and bubbly atmosphere.

"How are you lovely girls doing?" As Yara poured herself some tea, she stared at the two women across from her who despite being equally gorgeous were polar opposites.

"Ah! I'm doing well mother I defeated fifty of the guards today!" Always the energetic hellhound, Bekka was the first to speak as usual.

Hellhounds are a race that are a mix of WarWolves and demons and are incredibly rare.

Standing at an impressive six feet tall, she was actually quite small for one of her race.

She had pitch black skin that was littered with extremely well-defined muscles, yet it did nothing to take away from her feminine charm.

On the contrary it might've even added to it.

Bekka had an incredibly curvaceous figure with large F cup breasts, and a soft and plump bottom that has a black fluffy tail sticking out above it.

She had long black hair was wild and unruly; however, it fit her fierce nature perfectly.

With two cute wolf ears sticking out on top of her head, she looked just as feral as she did beautiful.

However, the most unnerving thing about her were the bright orange eyes with black sclera that seemed to pierce through one's very soul.

"Bekka dear, be sure not to break the guards again, okay?" Yara said with a small chuckle.

"No worries mother, I've gotten much better at sparring with them. I don't want to see what comes out when they break either." She said with a slightly sick face.

The reason Bekka was exiled from her clan was, despite her love of battle and obvious talent for it, she hated blood so killing was almost inconceivable for her.

The mere sight of blood made her incredibly nauseous, and she had a tendency to faint as well when too much was spilled.

A weakness that was extremely unwelcome from a daughter of the chief.

Yara giggled cutely before turning attention to her other, much shyer daughter in law.

"And you, Lailah?"

"I've been in a bit of a rut lately; I think I've combed through just about every book in the library." She replied sadly.

"Oh? Why did you not come to me or Duke if you required more books, my dear? You know we'd be happy to help. "

"Mother, how could I bother you with something so trivial." As Yara watched her try to hide the small blush on her face, she found herself wondering how her son was gifted not one great beauty but two.

Sitting next to Bekka was a mature yet petite looking woman who oozed feminine charm and grace.

Lailah was the oldest daughter of the witch queen who was disqualified from the throne due to her magical aptitude.

In this world, witches were a race that occurred naturally and lived separately from humans. They are only distinguishable by their animal like eyes.

Lailah was only a little bit shorter than Bekka, but her frame was much softer and more delicate. Her golden brown skin was laced with intricately carved runes resembling birthmarks.

She had an unnerving pair of bright red serpentine eyes that painted a beautiful picture of a woman who was sexy, mature, and dangerous.

Even if her real personality was about as far from dangerous as you can get.

Back home, she endured horrible treatment much like that of Exedra due to her magic of controlling animals, specifically snakes, not being seen as useful.

She was a quiet girl who often avoided interaction with others and constantly worried her presence was unwanted.

But despite her timid nature, she was a woman who was incredibly witty and gentle.

'My daughters in law are just the best!' Yara thought giddily.

Bab 6: Who Are You?

As the minutes trickled by and the girls continued their talks, the conversation suddenly shifted to Exedra.

Bekka: "We heard about Exedra..."

Lailah: "How is he? How are you?"

Hearing the genuine concern in the voice of these young girls, Yara found herself truly touched yet again to have these two as part of her family.

Even if their road here was less than ideal, she was still incredibly grateful that they were here.

"He's fine, he's stable now so that's all that matters." Yara was secretly trying to convince herself as much as them.

Bekka : "We should see him when he wakes up!"

Lailah: "I haven't seen him in a long time... I think he avoids us."

The girls settled into silence before Yara uttered a single question that has always plagued her mind.

"Have you ever resented my son?"

Anyone could tell that her question took them by surprise, and yet it was not one that was unfounded.

Exedra was intended to be a punishment for them afterall.

Both of their families simply came to the dragons and said, 'let's put our trash together with yours!'

Both girls took a moment to glance at each other before giving surprising answers.

Bekka: "Never!"

Lailah: "No."

Their firm refusal admittedly put a smile on Yara's face and she became slightly emotional.

Lailah seemingly noticed this and moved her chair next to hers and took her hand in a kind and warm gesture.

"We only resent circumstance, but since we have been here, we have been very happy." She squeezed Yara's hand slightly to convey the seriousness of her words.

"Your son seems like a wonderful man from your stories, I only wish we were a bit closer."

Bekka merely nodded from her seat, and Yara couldn't help but sigh in her heart.

Her son was well liked by all of the staff and the guards. Sometimes they doted on him more than she did.

But in front of his wives, her son's bright and charming personality disappeared as if it were never there.

He became shy and easily embarrassed, leading to him avoiding these two altogether.

Yara knew how her son felt about them, how could she not?

Yet it always seemed as though she lacked the words to convince him to let go of his self-hatred and try to love the girls the best he could.

Before Yara could muster up words in response, she caught sight of Duke running towards them.

"Duke? What's the matter?"

"My lady, please pardon my unsightly arrival, but there has been terrible screaming coming from the Young master's room. The medical team has been alerted and are on their way immediately."

Yara immediately stood up and prepared to leave.

Turning her back to tell the girls they'd have to continue tea another time, she was shocked to find them standing as well.

Bekka / Lailah: "We're coming with you."

For a moment, Yara stood there slightly gobsmacked.

Once she'd gotten over her shock, she made up her mind then and there that as long as her son lived through this, she would punch him over his head and demand he treat these girls better!

"Alright girls, let's go."

-

Approaching Exedra's room, it was easy to hear the screaming that Duke had spoken of, even from all the way down the hall.

Slowly, it began to die down as the girls reached the door and Yara immediately feared the worst.

Yara pushed the door open hard, nearly knocking it off the hinges and sending it flying.

Yara rappidly glanced around her son's neat and tidy room, however her brain immediately stopped working when she noticed something that did not belong.

A man slowly rose off of the ground and stood up, at a glance he appeared to be 6'3.

He wore nothing but black sleep pants that appeared to be much too small for him. His body was extremely well defined, as if it had been chiseled from marble by gods themselves.

He wasn't overly muscular or terribly skinny, his body sat perfectly in between the two.

He had long dark red hair that hung all the way down to his waist. His dark bronze skin was flawless and without a single imperfection.

On his head, there were two dark horns as black as obsidian.

Staring back at Yara were a pair of red reptilian eyes that glimmered like the finest of rubies.

Looking into those eyes, Yara had the strangest feeling as if I'd seen them countless times before, yet she'd surely never.

Staring into the face of the stranger in her son's room, she was immediately struck by his criminally unfair beauty.

Even when Yara compared him to 'that man', she fund that the man in front of her was just slightly superior.

He looked so much like…

"A-Asmodeus?" she meekly called out.

The man appeared to be confused before a glint of recognition shone in his eyes and he spoke.

"No… it's me, mother."

The man's voice was smooth as silk, as if merely listening to it could lull an unguarded soul into blissful sleep the likes of which they would never awaken from.

"Exedra?!"

The last thing Yara saw was the man nod with a smile that could enchant any woman before she inevitably passed out from shock.
