Bab 1: Final Z
I lay down on my bed and grab my VR headset and put it on. After putting it firmly on my head I start up my favourite game for the past 5 years.
Final Z, a zombie game that gave life back into the community. And you could say I'm the world best player.
I boot it up and the VR headset brings my into a deep sleep like state, and loads the game. Final Z it now having it's 5th year anniversary and a bunch of old players came back.
The anniversary was advertised in every kind of media outlet you could think of from Fastbook, to Intergram, it even showed up in some movie trailers. The only other time this game has been popular is when it was the month is launched.
I get logged in and spawn in the waiting room where you can team up with other players or sometimes even go solo. Every stops talking and looks toward my character name [FALL3N_ANGELZ018] and right next to it is a golden crown giving only to the player who unlocked most achievements. The only achievement I didn't unlock was the Game Over achievement.
I walk through the crowds of people and walk into a virtual bar and buy my own booth. I walk inside and it looks like a waiting room room with two couches on each side of the room and a table in the middle. I sit down and wait for the announcement of the newest update.
I open my message board and start reading the online threads. It's mostly people talking about what the new update is going to have. New maps, new special zombies, some people are even saying new NPCs.
I open my messager and pull up one of my friends. [Hey Gizmo! Are you already logged in? If so let me send you an invite and let's party up for the day.] I send it and wait for a few moments.
[Bet] he replied.
I open my friend list and pull up Gizmos name and send him a party invite. He immediately accepts and then a bright light shined in my room for a second before a see a huge guy standing there.
"Hey FA what's up I'm glad you invited me. It's going to make this so much easier." He said with a goofy smile.
"Yes! Let's get pumped up the announcement should be happening any moment. And the exact second it's done we are going to grind the hell out of it." I said with all the enthusiasm and excitement I could muster.
He nods his head and takes a seat. We talk about the online threads and the possibilities of what the update could hold.
Suddenly everything becomes a dark shade of red and we both look at each other. I smile, "I guess it's time for the update so let's get ready."
Gizmo and I loaded the screen that appeared in front of us both by pressing it at the same time.
A man appeared in something that looks like archpriest robes. [HELLO players welcome to the 5th anniversary to Final Z! Over the years the game has become something special to curtain group of people. So I'm deciding that I should first give them some honourable mentions. First is FALL3N_ANGEL018 who is top of the leader boards with most unlocked achievements. Second is Moon_Slayer66 for most zombies killed. And finally third SmilesMiles10 for most time spent playing. These player get something special when the update launches.]
I look over at Gizmo and we high five each other.
[Now let's move on, we here at Final Z thought about how do we make this game special. Something in this world that no one else in this brought to the game world. And I think we finally found it… Bring every player truly into the game. With absolutely no way to log out. Really bring out the feeling of fighting for your life's against zombies. Sure it might sound like we copied the idea from Swords/Guns/Magic but the developers want to let you know that this is something special.]
Gizmo and me look at each other confused. We both know the game that the GM is talking about. About a black swordsmen saving his harem.
[As some of you probably already noticed that the log off button is already gone that is the first part of our update. And before any of you start saying that this is fake let me show you.]
The GM summoned another screen in front of us showing news reports all around the world showing that people are all trapped in the game.
[This is not fake. We here at Final Z truly thought that this would bring our game to the next level. So as the update finishes, I would like to give the players a chance to settle in. So in one hour the update will truly start, so I'll give you the update notes. I suggest you read them, and may the odds be ever in your favour.]
He suddenly disappears in a flash of white light closing the screen in front of us. I immediately open my menu and look to see if the log out is still there…
It wasn't.
I close my menu and look at Gizmo, it seems like he also checked his logout. He falls down on the couch and I sit down on mine. We stay quiet trying to process what just happened.
After a few minutes I open the message boards and read any online thread to see if any player had some information.
The threads we just exploding with messages about Final Z being a death game, and being a ripoff of Sword/Guns/Magic. Even though I might be trapped here I still couldn't help myself and agree, I just hoped that a black swordsman saves us this time.
I look over at Gizmo after closing the message board, and I figure out what to say. "…Gizmo. Let's open the update notes."
