I stand up straight against the white wall, the smooth texture of it pressed up against my back. When I glance over my shoulder to study the room, emptiness greets me. I hold out my gun in front of me, ready in case I need to shoot at a moments notice. My footsteps are light, silent but deadly.
I quickly glance to my right and see Micah scoping out the room next to mine. His face is a look of concentration. Moments pass and eventually his guard drops and he turns to face me. I grit my teeth in frustration when he shakes his head, signaling he hasn't found Christopher or Calvin Black yet.
"How could they have escaped?" I mutter under my breath, heading for the next room.
"He's a wanted criminal who's just found out his son has betrayed him. We might not find Calvin Black alive." Micah says firmly. I freeze at his words, my stomach twisting in fear.
"Don't say that."
"We have to be realistic Hunter."
