Chi Cheng barely escaped the interrogative questions of his mother and older sister. The two women, although not daughter and mother by blood relation, always combined their forces when it involved his and Chi Weiran's well-being.

They pestered him with intrusive questions, going so far as to interrogate him about whether Han Xuelian ever tried to woo him romantically.

Chi Cheng had looked at his father with a silent plea in his eyes to rescue him from his mother and sister's clutches. Feng Renxing enjoyed the thrill of the banter and commotion his family stirred before he decided to whisk his eldest son away.

"I think you managed to convince your mother for now," Feng Renxing chortled behind the sleeve of his robe as he accompanied his son on a stroll towards the Training Courtyard. "But her suspicions won't lay low for long."

"You aren't going to ask me anything, Father?" Chi Cheng asked, nervously anticipating his father's opinion on the matter.
