Where could he possibly drop the choice, because both were important to him. Especially if he has to let Marion go, he can die from it.

"For what? That solution will not always be a solution. All the answers are in your heart," Marion said, breaking William's opinion for now.

Let's assume that William is experiencing a degradation of intelligence, even though he is an alpha, the leader of the strongest wolf pack in Eastonville, it is possible that he is subject to the influence of this one woman.
