Silence... neither William nor Emily said a word, even Marion looked at them in turn, but neither of them could utter a sentence.

They were just as surprised as Marion, just as heartbroken.

Still, it was Marion who felt the pain the most. She was the most tormented by the pain and anguish of Jeremiah's absence.

"Nooo... daddy... daddy ...." The girl sobbed, slumping her body to the floor and sobbing there.

She didn't care what William and Emily would do. She didn't even care if she died from the massive and uncontrollable shedding of her tears.

Will humans die from crying?

If not, how would she survive now without her father? How would he complain about everything if his father was gone?

Wouldn't it have been better if Jeremiah had stayed in the stocks? He was sad, hurt, but not this much.
