When the creatures set foot on the land, it was corroded, and toxic waste was spreading with every step. High above in the sky, where the island was flying, a portal opened, and monsters came out of it. They looked confused when they landed on the island because the land beneath their feet didn't change.
When they looked up from their confusion, they saw a woman flying in the air, staring at them with an angry gaze. "How dare you come on my island with your filthy body. VANISH." When those words were uttered, all the monsters that came out of the portal vanished, and even the ones that just came out were being killed. The portal itself flickered before ultimately vanishing.
Kali wasn't her usual self. She now had blue skin, and her energy was rampant around her. Her destruction and death divinity were going wild in the surroundings. This was her attack mode or destruction mode. This is actually her real body; her other one is her body in a sealed state.
When she landed back, she sealed her powers back to what they used to be, and her appearance changed again to her tan self. This has no drawbacks because when she is in her unseated body, all her energy is released, and nothing harms her.
Hugging her from behind, I kissed her neck while my arms were around her waist. "What did you feel on the other side?" I asked because if we could do that, we may have a chance to invade that world and that universe. And if we could go, I could progress without it being sensed by my enemies here.
"The connection is still too small for now, but by the fifth or sixth one, we could make our own portal." She leaned closer to me while saying that. She kissed me on my lips before teleporting to a side of her island. I followed her to see what she had to show me. From where we stood, we saw that the monsters had found a place where no one lived and were corrupting the lands there.
"I'll go down; you just stay here and help the others if scenery." I jumped down from the island and targeted the spot where the monsters were currently setting up a base.
...
Seven portals were spotted outside the walls of Lunaris. The soldiers stood ready, some on the wall and some beneath it. When the monsters sensed so much life energy, they immediately ran towards the city. The land they were running on was slowly dying. "Archers ready! Three two one FIRE." Ela was giving instructions to the soldiers on the wall.
When hearing her command, arrows with fire, wind, and water energy were shot from the soldiers' bows. All the arrows had different effects. The fire energy would explode on impact. The wind energy had an extra piercing ability and could be guided by the shooter until it lost momentum. The water energy would freeze its surroundings upon impact.
Boom..Boom
Explosions happened as soon as the arrows landed, and the monsters dropped like flies. But while a lot of monsters were dying, more were coming into the world. The soldiers who had experienced this before didn't lose hope and just kept firing. The monsters by the portal were also dying with sword slashes on their bodies.
Looking closely, you could see different squads of five women sneakily killing the monsters. "Team beta here. How is it on your side? We can handle it here."
One of the women who was standing on a tree after killing ten of those monsters spoke to the sleeve of her arm. "Team alpha here. There are no problems." A sweet voice answered the call and answered.
"Team Charlie here. More monsters are coming out than expected, so we need some additional support." Another sweet voice answered, but this one had more exhaustion in it than the other one.
"Team Delta here. no problems." An older voice answered shortly.
"Team echo here. We have three portals here, so that some support would be appreciated." The last voice was slightly panicked when she answered but still communicated her problems.
Their job wasn't to kill every monster but just kill some so that the number of monsters wouldn't overwhelm the city. In total, twenty-five women were in the shadows, killing these monsters. While there were just five of them in every squad, their kill ratio goes off the chart. They had already killed hundreds of monsters per squad, and the attack had just begun.
Back to the city wall.
The ground forces also faced the monsters head-on. The monsters with the purple scythe were easier to kill, but the sheer number of them made it problematic. You also had the monsters with the bow that did damage from range and the eyeball monsters that charged at you or shot purple balls of toxic energy at you.
The healers and buffers had it the hardest here on the front line because they would have already fallen or suffered a lot more casualties without them. Ela still just watched from above and did nothing. She wanted to wait and see if a boss would show up where she had to preserve her energy, but she just got a message from her master that it wasn't showing up.
She raised her rapier in the air, and the whole vibe of the battle changed. The monsters, who had never seen this before, were stunned, and the soldiers took advantage of their moment of distraction. A big moon was illuminated behind Ela, and a bright light was shining on the battlefield.
The dying land restored itself as soon as the light touched it, and the soldiers felt strength in their bodies. The monsters, on the other hand, felt their strength weaken, and their corruption was being deleted. Some monsters screamed because of the purification they were experiencing, but others just went mad.
Most golden stars were glowing, and the monsters went mad or exploded. The soldiers who had been fighting them also knew that these stars were their weak points, so now that they were showing weakness, they quickly killed as many of them as possible.
