Chapter 153: Daddy Issues

~Cana A. POV~

[December 1, X784]

Ugh…

I really regret asking Silva out on his offer to train with him beating my ass and then hashing this out and talking about Gildarts –

I mean my Father…

Sigh…

*Knock*

*Knock*

Knocking on his door Silva soon revealed himself with a neutral expression on his face talking to me in a neutral tone, "Good. Glad to see you came rather I come to you. That was a wise choice Cana. Now come on through, we have much to discuss."

Entering through the doors of his place taking a seat on the table sitting while he took cups and coffee drink with a glass bottle of ale as he spoke, "Got some coffee for myself. I didn't know whether you wanted coffee or not so I bought a glass jar of ale for you if you drink in the morning or do you wanted something else."

*Plup*

Taking the bottle of ale tapping off the lid taking a sip in the morning since I need to be tipsy for this today feeling depressed about my odds, "Ah… I need this if we're talking heavy duty. Do your worst but… what would you do if I left the guild?"

His eyes flashed surprise before taking a sip of his coffee as he replied to me softly, "I would be sad if you did. And many others if you did but does it involve your father?"

I flinched at that sighing taking a small sip and talking this out.

I wouldn't have come here if it wasn't for Levy talking me into this.

I heard of her issues, and it felt good for someone to listen to her story as well as give advice on what to do.

Even Lucy could vouch for him along with Juvia about having time to talk this out with Silva. He seems to be popular speaking to girls.

And his the only one who knows my dad is Gildarts to console upon unless I feel like speaking this out to someone else to which hell no!

Not after he spoke broadly about it to my face.

Regardless I replied to his question hesitation in my heart speaking out how I truly felt, "You hit the nail. Nnn… I'm starting to think I should though. The whole reason I joined was too…"

Trailing off my words I froze slightly thinking of the thought as I clicked my tongue quickly dissuading that line of thought, "Tch. Well, I don't think it'll happen just –"

Before I could close that off Silva interjected with confusion on his face speaking to me in a stern tone, "What was it? Come on Cana how can I help if you keep yourself shut out to everyone? I promise to give my advice on your thoughts."

I shifted slightly hearing his response thinking for a while…

It's not like I have nothing to lose.

Taking a deep breath and exhaling my worries I replied to his question in a hesitant voice, "It's my dad… You know he's Gildarts. I joined the guild to try to get close to him, but he seems further away than ever, every passing year… it's just frustrating…"

It really was frustrating…

I planned on telling my father I was his daughter once I made it to S-Class but after year, after years of failing, I couldn't hope to catch up.

I'm lagging getting further away from him feeling the depressing weight on my shoulder he would be ashamed of me being a complete failure…

But before I could continue, I heard Silva's voice catch me by surprise with his response, "I have a question for you Cana. My question is simple, if you told your father who you were now, what do you think would happen?"

Caught off guard I didn't think of that question as I try to avoid that topic deflecting it in a confused tone, "I don't know… I mean, it could mean lots of things really…"

Silva put me on the spot with a small smirk on his face with another question, "Name two on the top of your head?"

Thinking of his question I complied ever slowly responding unsure where his line of thinking was going to do, "He could reject me… or... he could accept me…"

He took a sip of his coffee twirling his cup with his spoon as he replied to another question causing me to pause at his words, "Is that so? In that case, let's say if he were to reject you say… because you weren't an S-Class Wizard for example. Would you say that Gildarts is a good father, in that scenario?"

Feeling a bit offended I responded a bit fiercely leaning up from the table and glaring at him for insinuating Gildarts is a bad person, "No… No! I want him to be proud of me! It's nothing that you're insinuating Silva! He's not a bad guy…"

He took another sip as he used my own words against me in a calm tone leaning his back in his chair, "I see. In that case, do you think he wouldn't be proud of you then?"

Bitterly sitting down again and taking another sip I responded a bit calmer at his words finally finding an answer, "I don't know. How could I know how he would respond…"

At this, he smiles lightly making me pause at his words into consideration laughing lightly at my issues with his advice entering my head, "Hahaha… yeah it would be hard to predict. Impossible even but there is a way to get a special insight if you're willing to listen. And no, it doesn't involve your predictions."

Listening I nodded allowing him to speak gesturing my hands to continue the advice he had on mind speaking to me, "It's that you are his daughter. Some part of him lives on in you. Say if you had a long-lost child that you didn't have before, and came to you as a young adult, desperate to be proud of them… would it matter whether they were an S-Class Wizard or not?"

Pausing a moment taking his words into consideration…

No.

I would be proud of them no matter what.

Was I really being silly about this?

All I wanted was to be able to stand in front of my dad and show him that I was a capable young woman to be proud of…

But did I have to be an S-Class Wizard for that?

Why had I even been fixed on that as a goal?

I recalled how Gildarts came back to the guild at first in awe but then despair at the state he returned to the guild.

He laughed off and bragged about how badly he'd been torn up on his quest. He's been joking and showing off to be untouchable I thought at the time…

But then I realized he wasn't immortal. Not untouchable he could die on the job and wouldn't be around forever for me to speak the truth…

I didn't realize but my fist clenched tightly at the thought only to be interrupted by Silva's voice holding my other hand expressing a small smirk, "I think you should speak to your father directly seeing you know the answer… as a matter of fact…"

I felt my heart skip a beat seeing his Magic Tool teleport us transporting us as his smirk grew a bit wider, "We should go right now to speak to him! Yes! The longer we wait, the easier it will be before you stew and change your mind! Let's go!"

No wait…!!

*Shiii*

////

*Shiii*

I'm not ready – shit.

Transported immediately towards the guild sternly glaring at Silva's mischievous smile as my gaze landed towards my father Gildarts…

*Thump*

I feel a painful throb in my chest my heart beating a bit faster I stare at him a cut above the rest, an affable, competent man, terrifying in battle showing no fear even when a Dragon tore off his limbs…

He soon turned his gaze at me not wanting to tell him only for Silva to grip my hand tightly like iron not letting go as he spoke to us, "Hey! You're the newbie everyone is talking about Silva, right? I heard you managed to get two beauties fighting for you. Respect. And hello to you too, Cana."

Eeeep!

Making a small motion to come forward I froze in place but moved thanks to Silva forcing me along doing this even putting me on the spot!

This fucking asshole!!

That was when he opened his mouth getting Gildart's attention and directing his eyes towards me as Silva ran his mouth, "Hey Gildarts right? Cana has something she wants to say to you."

Being put on the spot I couldn't but try to form words out of my mouth, "Gildarts, I, I…"

My words promptly failed to form as Gildarts formed a wry smile trying to dissuade the situation making a joke scratching the back of his head, "If you're trying to confess your love for this handsome old man, you'll have to get in line I'm afraid."

I know he's trying to calm the mood as I try to form words, but I just couldn't. Feeling stuck but then Silva had to stick his nose in my life provoking me, "Sigh… it seems like I need to interfere. Cana! If you don't say the news, then I will."

Silva declared his face directed at him yelling at him in anger for doing so when it should be me to tell him, "Y – You can't! I must be the one to say it!"

Silva countered as my spine shivered at his words provoking me, "Then say it! Or I will…"

I slid my hand down grabbing my deck of cards in order to stop him as Gildarts stood up trying to diffuse the situation, "Hey, hey now. No need for you two to fight about this, I can go if I'm bothering you."

Silva soon declared shaking his head at Gildarts placing one hand on his shoulders with a determined glint in his eyes, "You most certainly not! In fact, this would be a good time for you to be present. There would be no point in this conversation without you here."

He looked at me causing my heart to freeze seeing he would absolutely do it if I didn't act as the number comes down frantically trying to make me act, "I'm going to say it in five seconds. Tick tock Cana… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1–"

I no longer froze yelling out loud for the guild to hear looking down through my energetic speech, "I'm your daughter!!"

Gildarts didn't say anything as I felt my throat bobbing swallowing my anxiety, with the deed just done.

*BAM*

*THUD*

"CRAB BASKETS!!!!"

*BOOM*

There was a loud thud of someone being punched, and a booming sound a second later seeing Silva's body being hurled into the wall yelling something about baskets and crabs of all things.

I could only gulp looking at my father properly for the first time, just staring at him trembling feeling like I messed I knew I shouldn't have –

Before I knew it, I was wrapped in a sudden hug squeezing tightly listening to his voice soft and gentle at me, "You're… Cornelia's, aren't you…"

I nodded silently at him as his eyes darted towards Silva's direction with an angry glint in his eyes in a determined tone, "Do you want me to beat up that bastard some more? Seems like he was bullying my one and only daughter that alone is courting his death."

*Krak*

Proving his point cracking his knuckles and letting out a croaked laugh trying to defend Silva not sending him a ticket to hell, "Haha… it's alright… he was helping me in his own way. Even though he deserved that punch."

He nodded as my dad exclaims trying to apologize to me for not realizing he had a daughter muttering to me, "I'm sorry. I heard that Cornelia had died, but I never knew she had a kid. I should have checked… if I had then all this time, I had a daughter… so close yet I never realized it…"

Feeling the hug suddenly grow tighter I replied to him feeling the tears swell up in my eyes explaining to him, "No… I should be the one to apologize… I kept it a secret I should've told you this sooner…"

I felt his embrace as he began to mutter out crying to me accepting me as his daughter in a pleading tone, "I can't. Please, Cana…. Give me a chance…. Please give me permission to love you, as a father…."

Feeling my tears running down I accepted him as my father as he hefted me up into the air, holding me under the arm and spinning me around. My dad's face was a mess yelling I love as I returned the same gesture.

Coming out from the hole in the wall Silva smiled congratulating himself approaching us, "Ah… what a happy site. My work here is done –"

*BAM*

*BOOM*

Interrupting him my dad kicked him in the chest sending him away into the wall again and kept going as he asked me in a curious tone, "Should I stop doing that?"

I let out a small giggle letting a small smile appear on my lips giving that trickster his just desserts, "No… well… he did almost have a heart attack and beat me up alone training… you can go all out. Only stop when his beaten up."

One could hear the echo of Silva responding out loud to my response, "OH, YOU BITCH!!!"

Gildart's eyes glared with a savage grin on his face responding cracking his knuckles and flaring his Magic Power, "Oi brat!! That was my daughter you just mocked Trickster!! You are courting death!!!"

And digging his own grave whether his brave or insane had the guts to respond, "Make me you alcoholic bitch! Woopwoopwoop!!!"

*WOOOSH*

And… Gildarts is gone.

May God help you Silva because Gildarts has none.

But all in all, thanks for helping me out…

*BOOOM*

*BOOOOOM*

If you manage to survive first hehehe…

Chapter 154: Third Form of Combat – Spirit Arts

~Silva K. POV~

[December 3, X784]

After healing and questioning my life choices getting beaten within an inch of my life by Cana's dad calling her and Gildarts a bitch it took me time to recover.

Try to teleport the guy who crushes the Magic Circle.

Portal him away he crushes it to bits.

His <Crush> Magic is complete bullshit.

But bloody hell that bastard is strong as hell…

I can see why his Fairy Tail's ace made me question my life choices.

Although I'm glad Cana managed to get together with her father with the Guild talking up a storm about how she's related to him.

Frankly, I could've handled the situation better, but I couldn't because of the lack of time. I don't need a rogue Fairy Tail member focusing on the trial than their members for an important fight ahead.

That's the last thing I need.

It was why I tried to be forceful to resolve it since Cana will never do it unless someone provokes her but no one sane could unless they want to deal with Gildart's wrath bullying his little girl.

Totally worth it for the future.

Someone had to bite the bullet.

Ignoring that beatdown I took out the reward I got from Cana in the form of a simple Katana but with an amazing ability that could come in handy.

<Observe>.

----

Item: Kiriichimonji

Rarity Item: A

Type: Katana

Description: Kiriichimonji, like all other Shingu, was created four hundred years before the start of the series; the Emperor of that time in charge of their creation had attempted to create weapons that would surpass the Teigu, but failed.

-Inflicting Permanent Wounds: It has been stated that wounds inflicted using Kiriichimonji will never heal; regardless of whether the victims use medicines, bandages, or special ointments to try to mend and close the wounds, the cuts and injuries inflicted by it would continue to bleed. Otherwise, it has no other abilities.

----

Smirking at this weapon I would be someone's nightmare with this weapon ensuring my enemies won't be healing anytime soon.

Returning Kiriichimonji away into my <Requip> having some free time I began to take on a free quest this time around seeing I would need to come in the meantime.

Taking the time to leave my room I began to leave my apartment making my way to the guild to see if there were any job requests for me to complete.

/////

Calmly skipping my way to the guild, I saw there weren't a lot of people like the last few days witnessing the old timers enjoying their time.

Turning my eyes towards the request board I saw there were no jobs to be requested I asked Mira at the bar counter for the jobs, "Hey Mira! Did the other members get all the requests again?"

She turned towards me and smiled replying to my earlier question in a cheerful tone, "Oh! Morning Silva and yeah. These guys are in a rush till December 8 for that special day. You know yah big lug."

Right for the S-Class trials.

I sighed as Mira waved me over to come over whispering a hint of surprising me with the news to my ear, "Yup. But as thanks for getting Lisanna here's a tip in advance. You are one of the few selected for the trials so I suggest training but be here for December 8. Got it big boy?"

Surprised of letting me know I smiled thanking her in a silent whisper not having to worry if qualified or not in a thankful tone, "Thanks, Mira. I owe yah one. Now I have something to do before December 8."

*Chee*

Before I knew it, I got a small kiss on the cheek surprising me as she giggled explaining her actions to me, "Consider it a reward for sticking to your words. You promised to help my family be reunited just consider yourself lucky enough to date me and I'll consider it. Very lucky man since I turn most guys down. See you later pretty boy."

Leaving staring as she swayed her hips I was flabbergasted at her actions leaving me baffled.

Not going to complain but I think she gave me the go-ahead to date her and if I'm lucky I could practically make her mine.

Sadly though I'm not interested in the dating game that much nor am I one of those horny shitty harem protagonists either.

Turning around and seeing some of the older members' eyes widen at our interaction I guess rumors are going…

Son of a bitch she played me, didn't she?

Oh, Erza is going to be pissed by the news and that minx just wanted to stir up trouble, didn't she?

Well played my demoness rival, well played indeed.

I'm lucky that Erza isn't that sociable or knowledgeable in relationships.

Exiting out of the guild trying to train again I was stopped seeing Mini in front of shocked seeing her here asking in a neutral tone whispering, "Your… Mimi, right? Why are you here in Earthland?"

To this, she straightforwardly replied to my question while viewing my body approving of my muscles apparently, "Hmph! Good, you have good muscle form as for why? My lady Selene-Sama requested your presence seeing you have free time."

Great the Moon Dragon wants to see me. Better see what she exactly wants.

Agreeing but leaving in a discreet way from prying eyes moving around Magnolia Town carefully I see the <Aqua Aera> jumping straight in no question asked.

*Splash*

/////

*Splash*

That's going to get annoying getting wet each time you go through the portal.

Exiting out from the portal with Mimi following behind already seeing Selene taking a sip she gestures for me here in a light tone, "Very good to see you so soon Silva. You must be wondering why I called you here yes?"

Curtly nodding at her claims, I replied to her question in a curious tone remaining cautious of her no matter what, "I'll admit I'm curious for the purpose of summoning me here again. Didn't expect it to be this soon though?"

She nodded in agreement with my words exclaiming the purpose of my visit here again, "Of course. The purpose of discussing about here is to train you obviously this world's form of combat. Tell me have you heard of the term Curse Power or Curses before and not the magical ones used for spells."

Blinking a bit caught off guard I answered regardless to her question in a curious tone, "You mean the ones that Zeref demons use, right? I've heard of them before."

She raises her eyebrow at my words but disregards it continuing her explanation to me of a third option to be used here in this world of combat, "Impressive to know that much. But no. In this world Elentear they don't use Curse or Magic Power to use Magic or Curses. Instead, this highly concentrated world of Magic is called Spiria the fuel used to create our form of fighting style... named <Spirit Arts>."

Raising an eyebrow at this I have heard of this before from the manga but never explained into great length or full details about it.

Raising her hand towards Mimi standing by kneeling upon entering she told her to explain to me how they work sipping her sake, "It would be a bore to explain everything about them. Mimi have our dear guest here be notified of Spiria and <Spirit Arts>."

Mimi saluted in understanding worshiping her in a loud voice, "Aye Selene-Sama!!"

Happy I think I just found your counterpart here.

Regardless Mimi informed me what Spiria and <Spirit Arts> are in more detail. Spirit Arts are the main form of combat utilized by those who can gather Spiria.

And what is Spiria exactly?

Spiria is the term used to refer to particles that Spirit Arts are created from.

Like Ethernano and negative energy and emotions that power Curses, Spiria is the magical essence that a Mage uses to create Spirit Arts techniques and spells, implied to be stronger than Ethernano in the form of a 'power'. It's known for parts of Elentear to be rich in Spiria.

Differing from Magic and Curses, Spirit Arts is a different attribute that was created by Spiria, an attribute that became developed in areas of Elentear. Magic or magical weapons cannot affect any Spirit Arts, instead, only Spirit Arts can counter one another.

At least from their perspective but it seems like they don't know that Enchantments can mess with their abilities.

Wendy showed this when she was boosting and/or dispelling-type abilities Enchantments have been shown to be able to intertwine and act in unison with Spiria to destroy and counter against Spirit Arts, such as Demons' Parade's ability to morph humans into Yokai and being reverted with enchantments that mold Spiria in the manga.

Good thing I remembered that.

Wait…

Pausing at this I decided to interject Mimi's explanation going into specifics of creating abilities or are taught in a curious tone, "Wait a second…! When using <Spirit Arts> do you get your ability by birth, train a certain ability or do you simply create your own?"

Mimi listening to my interjection smirks slightly jabbing her thumb at her body showing off her body happily flexing her muscles, "Heh. The little man impressed by my words of <Spirit Arts> huh? But in a way yes. But you need to manifest spirit energy to employ Spirit Arts, being composed of Spiria. Like Magic Power for Magic, one must first be able to gather Spiria, and then after the variant levels of Spirit Power one can attain depends on the specific user as well as the level of "discipline" one puts onto their own craft."

My eyes sparkled at the thought of creating my own ability…

In some ways this kind of sounds like Nen from Hunter X Hunter but what if I create an ability from my Spirit Arts to fuel my Curse Power since we all have that power just never using it…

Oh…

I'm so going to think of using that idea to create my Spirit Arts but before I could ask if they have a book of it Selene first responded in a neutral tone, "Mimi dear please see if you could gather a book revolving around <Spirit Arts> for our guest."

She saluted and dashed off in agreement, "Aye! Selene-Sama!"

*VOOOM*

She's certainly –

*Voooom*

fast.

And back in literally a few seconds…

Not bad.

Handing me the skill book I soon see the pop-up screen informing me about me absorbing it in front of them since Selene already knows I didn't hesitate to do so.

[You obtained the skill book 'Spirit Arts Cultivation.' Would you like to learn this skill?]

[Ding!]

[You have learned the skill <Spirit Arts>!]

Feeling a new sensation, I began to use my <Meditation> skill immediately disregarding everything else testing out the new form of power within the air.

The spiria…

I feel it and the 'power' Mini was talking about…

It feels amazing and potent…

[Ding!]

[By harnessing the Spiria of the environment a skill to gather and convert them into Spirit Power has been generated!]

[Skill: <Spiria Cultivation> is learned!]

[<Spiria Cultivation> LEVEL UP!]

Soon I lost focus of my concentration hearing Mimi yelling in shock opening my eye at her reaction, "Ahh!! No way!!! You managed to master <Spirit Arts> and <Spiria Cultivation> within seconds!!! Impossible!!! It takes years to create and refine such practice…?!!!"

Selene merely giggled as I stopped what I was doing deciding to quickly check my new skills.

Skill List.

*Clap*

*Clap*

Listening to Selene clapping at my achievement she praised me for learning a skill that took other spirit art users' years to create while I mastered them in an instant, "Fascinating. You truly are different from other humans I met and a fast learner. In time perhaps you'll even surpass me but before then you'll even surpass… him."

Spitting out in disgust I already get she means Acnologia.

But if were on the topic of her helping me out I spoke to her getting her curiosity gazing at me as I spoke, "In that case… would you perhaps help me get stronger say… raiding the Gold Owl Guild of their Alchemy Books?"

Her eyes glinted amusement considering the possibility before she finally responded in a neutral tone, "Perhaps… after all, they are remnants of the Gold Dragon Viernes an enemy of mine… I'll consider it but seeing you can manage your own training… be gone."

*Splash*

Crap.

////

*Splash*

*Thud*

Landing down on someone cushioning my fall -!

Slowly looking down I see Gildarts glaring at me clenching his fist coldly responding, "I see... you have the gull to ruin a man's booze and sandwich. How long do I have to teach you emergency food."

Ah hell no!!

Not again!!!!

FUCK YOU SELENE -

*BAM*

*THUD*

All I see is darkness after the first hit to my face courtesy of Gildart's fist fainting on the spot.
