Laila POV
I am just leaving the library. We have two hours break and since i don't have anything doing and Florence didn't come to school today i decide to go to the library to read my notes.
I was walking past the old music room when i saw two boys both in senior secondary one kneeling on the floor holding a book in front of them.
I am still looking at them wondering what they were doing when something suddenly fell on the book in their hands pushing them backwards. It repeat again then i heard laughter when the tennis ball hit the bigger one on the head.
Without anyone telling me, i know who it was.
Jason and his gang.
I don't know what gives me the energy but i just get the strength and i walk into the room.
I stand in front of the boys and they look surprised. I could notice the boys were praying that i could do something to stop them.
I see Favour, the guy that hold my hand two weeks ago touch Jason who was busy with god-knows-what on a sketch pad.
Jason look up and he seem very shock to see me.
"What do you think you are doing?" George ask me.
"What do you also think you're doing?" I ask angrily.
They look at me like i was crazy.
Favour and Saheed laugh and it make me angry.
"You are bullying this small children. What kind of human are you? Is this how you were treated when you were at their age?" I yell at them.
Jason POV
".... Is this how you were treated when you were at their age?" Laila yelled at me and my friend.
" I think you are crazy Laila. Get out of here. " Saheed bark.
I watch as Laila move closer to Saheed.
" Do you know what i think?" She asked. "I think you are the one that is crazy. And let me tell you this... I won't leave here without those boys."
"And you." She said turning to me. "Don't you have conscience?"
"Do you have any idea what you are getting yourself into?" George asked.
She didn't say anything to George question but just stare at me.
This is the moment i have been waiting for.
First she stood up to answer question in the class. They all knew that i hate people challenging me. When i put up my hand to answer a question, no other person does even if i don't get the answer.
But Laila break the rules. She stood up to answer the question when i couldn't say all the answers Mr Falade asked. Despite her friend Florence touch her continously not to get up, she still did.
Now she have the right to meddle in my business.
No one does.
Ever.
And it won't be her.
"Can't you talk?" She ask me.
When i didn't answer. She went back to meet the boys.
She pull them up. "Let's go." I heard her say.
My friends look at me as i watch her help the boys stand to their feet.
Favour was about to go to her but i hold him back and he look at me like I am crazy.
The boys were reluctant to go but when they see i didn't try to stop her neither do my friends, they finally agree to follow Laila out of the room.
She gave me one last angry stare before walking out.
"Are you crazy Jason? You just humiliate us in front of those juniors and Laila." George Complain.
"First you stop us from playing with her and now you let her interfere in our business." Saheed said between clench teeth.
I gave them no reply and i took my sketch pad and begin to sketch on it.
They glare at me. Then they walk out of the room angrily.
That's what i needed.
Space.
I need space to think.
Laila thinks I'm cool with whatever she did. I knew right from the beginning that she will be a challenge.
But she is going to regret it.
Laila POV
I am glad to help the two boys. They were very happy and relieved when I walk them out of Jason and his friends.
As I walk back to my class, i thought about what i just did. I'm glad to help those poor boys but I'm not sure.
I felt relief to help the student because I have to. If i don't stand up against Jason, no one will. And I can't sit down and continue to watch. I am not so much in peace because I knows Jason won't just sit and watch me.
He didn't move when i was yelling at him and his friends. He didn't do so much as flinch at my words.
I was expecting him to do something, say something. But he didn't. So i don't know what he is thinking. I could not read his face because it was completely expressionless.
His friends were so mad and they expect him to do something but he just stare at me.
Just stare and didn't move.
I don't know what he is thinking. He always has a crazy idea in his head. He is so emotionless.
So I don't expect him to just sit quietly and watch me. I know he is thinking millions of things to do to me right now.
He's a sociopath. Not just a sociopath but he is also wise.
I don't know what to do but I will prepare myself for the worst.
Whatever he do to me, I will fight it and consider it a sacrifice I had to make.
One of the things I learn from my aunt is never being afraid of human like me... no matter the height, color, size or class of the person. We are all human and we breathe the same air.
I have to sacrifice myself...to help everyone. I am not scared of Jason just scare of what he can do. He is clever.
I'm suppose to be scared of him like the rest of the school but i am not. I don't know why but I'm not.
So maybe it's a chance for me to do something. To help those vulnerable and scared students like those boys.
And maybe help Jason himself.
But the thing is I don't know how.
This chapter has a mixture of two POVs so please don't be confuse. It may be like this in chapters to come.
So how was the chapter? What do you think Jason is planning?
Feel free to tell me your thoughts.
