Martel held Monica in his embrace as he saw on a massive tree branch. The monsters hardly wandered during the day, in fear of getting preyed upon by the day active werewolves. This was not to Martel's liking as from what Bob told him, the night is already the vampire's domain.

"Huff. Huff," Bob has to gasp for air after doing Martel's trial. Holding his body up by putting his hands on his knees to support his upper body.

At this time, he was just running.

It was what Martel told him to do. He understood how this rigorous activity would help him fight against monsters as he'll get used to the fatigue and could move better under such conditions.
