Bab 65: Not Important

Within a brightly lit room, a woman with a beautiful face yet had a horrible sense of fashion was tapping away at her keyboard. Her clothes were questionable at best and filthy she was.

"Sniff. Still good." She sniffed one of her armpits and commented.

This woman spent days trying to get inside and breach a certain company's security. She was so dedicated to doing this that she hasn't bathed in days.

"Just a few more hours. I've already spoofed their system so that my infiltration wouldn't be detected." She explained to herself.

"Yes. Yes. I already tried the different methods to get their passwords via analyzing all these data, but their encryption is too good." She said as she bit her nails.

"That's why I'll just brute force my way into this. My computer is strong enough to finish this within a couple of hours."

And so, the filthy woman waited and bit her nails in anticipation. Her eyes were crazed and constantly moved. This is because she isn't doing this for monetary gain.

"It's done! Hahahahah!" She laughed as her screen showed the graphic interface for administrators.

"Just you wait, Bernilli."

TACK TACK TACK~

Then she spent the rest of the time looking through most of the data she could get her hands on.

-

"Yuck." Annera cringed as they entered the gorge.

The visuals for the gorge was, as expected, gross. The fat and slimy monsters made the gorge their home so it wasn't unusual. However, the smell made it much worse.

"Holy. I don't remember this smell at all." Gideon pinched his nose.

This was the reason why unlike before, Delm's Gorge had no other players. The recent world overhaul included much more sophisticated details and that includes smell.

[What are we going to do now?] E asked Gideon through party chat.

He didn't want to open his mouth to speak and he held his breath as long as possible to avoid inhaling.

[We are already here, it would be a waste to turn back. Right, guys?] Gideon wanted to continue despite the obvious discomfort the smell would cause.

"Hmm. It's not so bad. It just smells like cow manure." Bob sniffed the air and said.

Unlike everyone, Bob was a farmer who owned a barn. Barns may have the earthy smell because of the amount of hay, the stench from all the animal farts and dung was carved in Bob's mind.

[Looks like we'll just have to deal with it then.] Annera wanted to move but she also knew that it was a hassle to change venues now.

[It's only for a day, let's suffer through this and we can get you guys to at least level 70. There are no other players here so we have the whole farm to ourselves.] Gideon whispered and gave a thumbs up but still kept his mouth shut.

"Alright. So, what do we have to do?" Bob asked verbally. He was the only person that was used to the stench.

"Cluck." My mistake, it seems Lavanuk also didn't mind the stench.

[Just like before, you guys stay in a safe spot. We'll handle everything.] Chikinsupu whispered.

[I like this way of conversing better.] Blight chimed in.

[Hahaha. I can see why.] Minion also interjected.

E's party of low-leveled players all went to a spot that had the least number of holes and acid deposits. The only saving grace for sticking with this area is that the mobs here provide more experience than their levels.

[You have gained a level.]

Gideon's party just began killing mobs slowly. They didn't want to risk falling into the chasm by moving around so much. Although they can tank the acid, they would rather save their HP values.

'We don't have a proper healer.' Gideon thought.

Annera may have followed them, but her heals would hardly be of any help to them. Their HP pool was too much for a measly level 30ish healer. But it does not matter as the agreement was only to be boosted until the 70's.

Leveling up requires time and grinding. This is because players of a certain level can not fight against monsters that could give greater experience due to level difference.

Getting a booster/bus would solve that problem. High-leveled players could kill monsters for newer players to level up fast.

However, that poses a problem for low-level players in the long run.

'It's a good thing that they're not too greedy.'

Immersion Online has a skill level system. The more frequent you use a skill, the more experience it gains and will eventually become better. This is because this is true in real life, the more you do something, the better you are.

And getting boosted to higher levels without honing their skills, the boosted players would not have the firepower of a normal player of their level. It would still be necessary to grind their skills before they become decent.

[You gained a level.]

Slow.

[You gained a level.]

Slow and steady.

Soon, it became lunchtime and the party had to take a break. Everyone except Bob logged out of the game to grab lunch at the quickest.

Seeing himself alone again, and this time in the middle of an acidic wasteland, Bob could finally accept that this world is only for entertainment.

'Annera was telling the truth.'

He didn't want to believe it. He wanted to deny the fact that the world he was living in was only a simulation. But the pieces of evidence were presented before him.

'They all said that they were going to eat lunch. But they all disappeared.'

Bob took a seat and relaxed with Lavanuk on his head. He grabbed a few pieces of bread from his inventory and ate silently.

-

A few minutes later, the players began logging in. Their lunchtime was quickly over as they didn't want to waste any time at all. They only had this day to play for a whole day by chance.

"Alright, we will continue. You guys should be nearing 40's right? We'll keep at it." Gideon unsheathed his sword and took the frontline.

Without a hitch, the leveling process continued.

On the side, E observed how they battled. He wanted to see for himself how to lead a party in the higher levels.

'Damn. I can't focus. How are they doing this?' E had a hard time observing properly.

His attention was fully on the smell. He just had a wonderful lunch from breakfast leftovers quickly heated with his microwave oven. Getting to smell the stench of the acids made him almost vomit.

"Hey! Hunter! Use your binds in that area. Dreads! How long until your vortex is ready?"

"Will do!"

"1 minute!"

"Kazuma! Get out of that position! They're going to respawn!"

"It's alright! I intended to kite them!"

"NO! Listen to me!"

"Alright."

A few moments after Chikinsupu left his position, fat monsters spawned in great numbers. This was why Gideon insisted that Chikinsupu should move out because he would have been surrounded.

"Great! Kite them now!"

"Roger that!"

Hearing their loud conversation, E was amazed. This was a great level of coordination and although they may want to go against Gideon's words, they would follow if Gideon determined it was unsafe.

'Wait a minute. Did he just calculate that?'

Gideon somewhat knew the time when those mobs would respawn. He didn't use precise measures to determine the spawn time but he nailed it.

"Alright! Dreads! Do it!!"

[You gained a level.]

[You gained a level.]

"Hunter, clean up. Kazuma, run to that area."

Gideon commanded his party. E wanted to replicate the complexity of Gideon's commands, or so he thinks. In actuality, the ability to command grows with the person.

E himself already was able to lead his party albeit with less complicated instructions. If he continues playing with his party, he would be able to become just like Gideon in due time.

-

A few hours later, it was time to call it a day. E had to leave because he needed to clean up the mess he made in his house and sneak out before his wife catches him.

'I'm still safe.'

"Hey guys, thank you so much for today." E was truly grateful to Gideon's party.

"You're welcome. Level 70 should be enough to explore most of the Kingdom of Doof safely. Still, I advise you guys to spam your skills." Gideon advised.

"Thank you!" Annera bowed her head.

"Hey, Bob. Keep in touch, mkay?" Chikinsupu raised his fist for a fist bump.

"Yea. Thanks for today." Bob replied in kind.

Soon after, the players logged out of the game as soon as they got outside of Delm's Gorge. They didn't bother to teleport to Donut City first as they can do that when they log-in the next time.

"They're gone. I guess we will see them again tomorrow, huh."

"Cluck!"

"Hahaha. Yea. Wanna try and hit them for fun?"

"Cluck!"

To kill time, Bob and Lavanuk decided to dive back into Delm's Gorge.

He could kill the monsters, but it takes him more than 10 minutes just to kill one. However, he continued. He abused the weapon given to him by Dan by hitting monsters that had acid on them.

-

"I feel like I'm forgetting something." Kazuma said to himself as he got out of his virtual reality rig.

"Hmm. If I forgot about it, it's probably not important." His logic was infallible.

He just forgot to give Bob a TP scroll to Donut City, which shouldn't be a big issue.
