Bab 4: Building

After careful examination, Tau found all he needed to grow the village into an empire. As for his motivation, it was simple: he didn't want to die, and it might be fun.

However, looking at everything, only one building was lit up, and that was the town hall.

"500 Gold," Tau noted as he looked at how much it cost to acquire.

Description:

A building located at the figurative heart of the town. It is at the center of all administrative practices of the town and used by the Town Lord and all its officials to govern the town.

Note: Never allow the Town Hall to be destroyed, as the Town Lord's life is tied to the building.

Cost: 500 Gold

Time for building: 10 days, reduced to 5.5 days (due to Gold Pass)

Unlocks the following blueprints: [Summoning Gate], [Barracks], [Training Camp], [Mine Transport System], [Water Tower]...

"Of course, my life is tied to it," Tau said, already hesitant about actually buying the building.

If his life was tied to it, then there was no need to build it. If it was never built, then there would be no town hall to destroy.

However, he could clearly see that it unlocked many other buildings, many of which were very important, so he kind of had no choice but to do so.

"The Gold Pass is indeed a splendid thing to have," Tau noted before finally laying down to sleep.

It had managed to reduce the building time from ten days to just five and a half. It may not seem like much, but it was a significant improvement.

Considering the two options he had just discovered, Tau continued exploring the system for more until he finally slept off.

Within a large castle, a young lady could be seen sitting on a throne. Adorned in all sorts of jewelry, the lady possessed beauty beyond expectation.

In her court stood several men and women, all standing quietly as they looked on at her. Behind them stood the mighty guards of the kingdom, each equipped with expensive-looking armor and weapons.

"When was the last time this kingdom went to war?" the lady asked suddenly, breaking the silence within the room.

"Your Majesty, we don't understand your question," one of her court members asked.

"It means exactly what it means: when was the last time this nation went to war?" she asked again.

"My Lady, we are beyond war. Such things shouldn't weigh on your mind," another one responded.

"Just give me a straightforward reply," she shouted, clearly displaying her anger.

"That was one hundred and thirty-six years ago, my lady. The Ganur Empire is proud to have grown beyond such things," one of them finally answered.

"I see... Call for the best trainers we have. I assume even a queen can get stronger."

"Of course, my lady," all of them answered without hesitation.

They had no idea what was wrong with the Queen. However, who were they to question her? All they could do was go along with her whims.

"Also, call the best builders we have. I want to see them by evening. The trainers can wait until tomorrow evening," she ordered before standing up from the throne and walking back to her quarters.

"As you wish, your majesty," they all replied before disbanding to do as she wished.

The Next Day (1st POV)

I was standing in the small workshop near the outskirts of the village, with a rag over my mouth and nose to avoid inhaling the sawdust and other particles in the air.

"Village Chief?" one of the carpenters called out in surprise as soon as they recognized me.

"Good day, sirs," I greeted with a small bow.

I may be the Village Chief, but my mother still trained me to respect my elders, and these four looked like they were twice my father's age but somehow much healthier than most twenty-year-olds.

"Good day to you too, Chief Tau. What brings you here today?" the man answered as he immediately signaled for the others to stop working.

"Um, I seek your help a bit. You see, I drew this yesterday and was hoping you guys would be able to make sense of it. It's supposed to be a town hall," I lied as I brought out a large parchment of paper.

On it was a set of blueprints, drawn with such pristine accuracy that one would know modern tools were used.

Turns out that the Building feature doesn't just create buildings on its own; it brings forth blueprints. Blueprints that it automatically feeds you an understanding of.

"My god, this is truly magnificent. Chief, you said you drew this?" the one who looked like their leader asked.

"Ehm, yes. I just woke up this morning and had a strong feeling to draw this, so here it is," I continued my lie.

It was a simple lie, and for some reason, I didn't care if they believed me or not. Either way, they would build it under my authority as the village chief.

"So, do you understand it?" I asked.

"Of course, it's a blueprint, and we are builders... We may not look it, but we used to be famous back in the day," the oldest one answered.

Their accents were weird, and I couldn't tell which part of Earth they most closely resembled. In fact, now that I thought about it, none of them even looked like their Earth counterparts.

Now under the bright light of day, I would say the villagers here looked like Westerners, but they had several African and Asian features to negate that thought.

It was weird, but so were the premises of my arrival here. The four men were still busy talking it over.

It had been made clear that they could build it, so I couldn't understand why they were still discussing it.
